Chromatin dynamics during spermiogenesis.

TLDR
This review highlights the current knowledge on post-meiotic chromatin reorganization and reveals for the first time intriguing parallels in this process in Drosophila and mammals and illustrates the possible mechanisms that lead from a histone-based chromatin to a mainly protamine-based structure during spermatid differentiation.

Histone H2B.8 compacts flowering plant sperm through chromatin phase separation

TL;DR: In this paper , a histone variant, H2b.8, mediates sperm chromatin and nuclear condensation in Arabidopsis thaliana, and it is shown that H2B.8 aggregates transcriptionally inactive AT-rich chromatin into phase-separated condensates.
Journal ArticleDOI

An additional marker for sperm DNA quality evaluation in spermatozoa of male partners of couples undergoing assisted reproduction technique (IVF/ICSI): Protamine ratio

TL;DR: The spermatozoa DNA deterioration was closely associated with abnormal protamination but showed an association with the protamine ratio, more than with CMA3 positive, so the P1/P2 ratio might act as an additional biomarker for the evaluation of DNA damage in spermatoozoa.

A Conserved Requirement for Fbxo7 During Male Germ Cell Cytoplasmic Remodeling.

TL;DR: It is shown that in addition to the previously known Parkinsonian and hematopoietic phenotypes, male mice with reduced Fbxo7 expression are sterile, and indicates that a defect at the late stages of spermiogenesis, possibly due to faulty spatial dynamics of proteasomes during cytoplasmic remodeling, may underlie the fertility phenotype in mice.
Journal ArticleDOI

Dysregulation of lncRNA and circRNA Expression in Mouse Testes after Exposure to Triptolide.

TL;DR: This study provides a preliminary database of triptolide-induced transcriptome, promotes understanding of the reproductive toxicity of triPTolide, and highlights the need for research on increasing the medical efficacy of tripsolide and decreasing its toxicity.

The language of covalent histone modifications.

TL;DR: It is proposed that distinct histone modifications, on one or more tails, act sequentially or in combination to form a ‘histone code’ that is, read by other proteins to bring about distinct downstream events.
Journal ArticleDOI

Proteasome inhibitors: valuable new tools for cell biologists.

TL;DR: The actions of selective proteasome inhibitors are described, how they can be used to investigate cellular responses, the functions of the proteasomes demonstrated by such studies and their potential applications in the future.
Journal ArticleDOI

Identification of 67 Histone Marks and Histone Lysine Crotonylation as a New Type of Histone Modification

TL;DR: The identification of 67 previously undescribed histone modifications is reported, increasing the current number of known histone marks by about 70%, and lysine crotonylation (Kcr) is investigated, confirming that it represents an evolutionarily-conserved histone posttranslational modification.
