Chromatin dynamics during spermiogenesis.

TLDR
This review highlights the current knowledge on post-meiotic chromatin reorganization and reveals for the first time intriguing parallels in this process in Drosophila and mammals and illustrates the possible mechanisms that lead from a histone-based chromatin to a mainly protamine-based structure during spermatid differentiation.

There is another: H3K27me3-mediated genomic imprinting

- 01 Jan 2022 -
TL;DR: In this article , the authors discuss the mechanisms underlying H3K27me3-mediated noncanonical imprinting in perspective of the dynamic chromatin landscape during early mouse development and explore evolutionary origins of non-canonical genomic imprinting.

Covariation in superoxide, sperm telomere length and sperm velocity in a polymorphic reptile

TL;DR: The differences in STL between the morphs and the negative relationship between sperm velocity and STL, along with previous work on this species, suggest that telomere length and dynamics may be linked with the reproductive tactics of colour morphs within this species.

Epigenetic, genetic, and maternal effects enable stable centromere inheritance

TL;DR: In this article , a mouse model with reduced levels of CENP-A nucleosomes was used to show that an embryonic plastic phase precedes epigenetic memory through development.

Insights and clinical potential of proteomics in understanding spermatogenesis.

TL;DR: In this article, a critical overview of the studies addressing proteomic alterations in the development of spermatogenesis during puberty, as well as during the different phases of the Spermatogenic event is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI

The ubiquitination and acetylation of histones are associated with male reproductive disorders induced by chronic exposure to arsenite.

TL;DR: The present results indicate that the ubiquitination and acetylation of histones is involved in the spermiogenesis disorders caused by chronic exposure to arsenite, which points to a previously unknown connection between the modification of Histones and arsenite-induced male reproductive toxicity.

The language of covalent histone modifications.

TL;DR: It is proposed that distinct histone modifications, on one or more tails, act sequentially or in combination to form a ‘histone code’ that is, read by other proteins to bring about distinct downstream events.

Proteasome inhibitors: valuable new tools for cell biologists.

TL;DR: The actions of selective proteasome inhibitors are described, how they can be used to investigate cellular responses, the functions of the proteasomes demonstrated by such studies and their potential applications in the future.

Identification of 67 Histone Marks and Histone Lysine Crotonylation as a New Type of Histone Modification

TL;DR: The identification of 67 previously undescribed histone modifications is reported, increasing the current number of known histone marks by about 70%, and lysine crotonylation (Kcr) is investigated, confirming that it represents an evolutionarily-conserved histone posttranslational modification.
