TL;DR: In this paper, a method for amplitude modulating signals, and a circuit that operates in accordance with the method is presented, which includes a first step of applying a modulating low frequency signal having a time-varying voltage to a tunable resonator.
Abstract: A method for amplitude modulating signals, and a circuit that operates in accordance with the method. The method includes a first step of applying a modulating low frequency signal having a time-varying voltage to a tunable resonator. The tunable resonator exhibits parallel and series resonances at frequencies which shift as a function of the time-varying voltage. A second step includes applying an RF carrier signal having a frequency that is between the parallel resonant frequency and the series resonant frequency to the tunable resonator. In response thereto, the tunable resonator causes the RF carrier signal to be attenuated as a function of the time-varying voltage of the modulating low frequency signal. Also provided is a method for phase modulating signals, and a circuit that operates in accordance therewith. A first step includes applying a modulating low frequency signal having a time-varying voltage to a tunable resonator. The tunable resonator yields a maximum phase shift at one of a parallel resonant frequency and a series resonant frequency in response to the modulating low frequency signal. The amount of phase shift yielded is a function of a variation of the modulating low frequency signal voltage. A further step includes applying an RF carrier signal having a frequency that is substantially equal to the one of a parallel resonant frequency and a series resonant frequency. In response thereto, the tunable resonator phase shifts the RF carrier signal by the amount of phase shift yielded by the tunable resonator.

TL;DR: In this paper, a portable electronic apparatus including a touch-sensitive display on a first side surface of the apparatus housing, a first input device arranged to be actuated with a first digit of a hand of a typical user, and a second input device with a second digit of the hand of the typical user was described.
Abstract: A portable electronic apparatus including a touch-sensitive display on a first side surface of the apparatus housing; a first input device arranged to be actuated with a first digit of a hand of a typical user; a second input device arranged to be actuated with a second digit of the hand of the typical user, allowing the user to operate at least the first input device and the second input device without change of grip; and a controller coupled to the touch-sensitive display, the first input device and second input device, the controller displaying content on the touch-sensitive display. The controller can affect the display of content on the touch-sensitive display in a first manner when the first input is actuated and to affect the display of content on the touch-sensitive display in a second manner when the second input is actuated.

TL;DR: A framework contains three user activity categories identical to previous stationary Web studies: information seeking, communication, and transaction, and a new category: personal space extension, which refers to the practice that people put their content on the Web for personal access, therefore extending their personal information space.
Abstract: This paper describes a series of user studies on how people use the Web via mobile devices. The data primarily comes from contextual inquiries with 47 participants between 2004 and 2007, and is complemented with a phone log analysis of 577 panelists in 2007. We report four key contextual factors in using the Web on mobile devices and propose mobile Web activity taxonomy. The framework contains three user activity categories identical to previous stationary Web studies: information seeking, communication, and transaction, and a new category: personal space extension. The new category refers to the practice that people put their content on the Web for personal access, therefore extending their personal information space.

TL;DR: In this paper, a short message service center is connected to the Internet network and uses the HTML, HTTP, and TCP/IP Internet network protocols, and short messages are transferred between the service center and mobile stations.
Abstract: Internet service in a digital mobile communication network by means of short message service. The short message service center is connected to the Internet network and uses the HTML, HTTP, and TCP/IP Internet network protocols. Short messages are transferred between the service center and mobile stations. The user submits to the service center a short message containing an identifier of a WWW servicer via the Internet network, receives the WWW page and stores it. The relevant part, which maybe identified by a predetermined criterion, common to all subscribers, or based on a criterion received from the mobile station, such as a keyword, is separated from the WWW page and sent to the mobile station in a short message. The mobile station processes the received message and displays it to the user.
