TL;DR: In this paper, the performance of dye-sensitized solar cells with different TiO2 nanoparticle preparation methods and different annealing temperatures with various film thicknesses was studied.
Abstract: Performances of dye-sensitized solar cells prepared from nanoporous TiO2 films with different TiO2 nanoparticle preparation methods and different annealing temperatures are studied with various film thicknesses. The results show that the solar cells prepared at higher annealing temperatures have higher energy conversion efficiencies. Regarding film thickness, thin film electrode solar cells annealed at low-temperature show comparable efficiencies with those of the cells annealed at high temperature. The difference of the efficiency between the cells with the film annealed at different temperatures increases with the film thickness. To explain the observations, the surface area of the films, the amount of the adsorbed dye, and the diffusion coefficient and lifetime of electrons are measured. The amount of adsorbed dye per unit area is found to be independent of annealing temperature, while the diffusion coefficient and lifetime increase with the temperature. With trapping models, the measured increases of ...

TL;DR: In this article, the orientation sensitive interface is used to switch between the first and second loudspeaker pairs and maintain a substantially stereophonic reproduction for each orientation, by orienting the display apparatus in transverse directions corresponding to the respective speaker pairs.
Abstract: Display apparatus including a display and an orientation sensitive interface mechanism is disclosed. In an exemplary embodiment, the orientation sensitive interface includes first and second loudspeaker pairs. The first loudspeaker pair includes first and second loudspeakers and the second loudspeaker pair includes the second and third loudspeaker. The first and second loudspeaker pairs are disposed along transverse directions to each other. The display apparatus comprises a switch which switches between the first loudspeaker pair and the second loudspeaker pair. By providing the respective loudspeaker pairs, and switching between them, it is possible to orient the display apparatus in transverse directions corresponding to respective loudspeaker pairs, yet maintain a substantially stereophonic reproduction for each orientation.

TL;DR: In this paper, a method for controlling a mobile terminal device is provided, wherein said device comprises a smartcard module and a near field communication module, and in a first operation a smart card operation on said mobile device is started which results in an activation or switching on of said smart card module.
Abstract: According to the present invention, a method for controlling a mobile terminal device is provided, wherein said device comprises a smartcard module and a near field communication module. In a first operation a smartcard operation on said mobile terminal device is started which results in an activation or switching on of said smartcard module. The smartcard application may be started by a user or based on the location of said mobile terminal device. That is the case for instance if the mobile terminal device is located in the area of a point of sales terminal, the smartcard application will automatically starts. Further, time controlled starting of certain applications is conceivable. Then it may be determined if said started smartcard application is an application for performing data transactions with external entities and in case of an affirmative determination a connection between said smartcard module and said NFC-module will be activated.

TL;DR: It is shown that SP-frames have significantly better coding efficiency than I-frames while providing similar functionalities.
Abstract: This paper discusses two new frame types, SP-frames and SI-frames, defined in the emerging video coding standard, known as ITU-T Rec. H.264 or ISO/IEC MPEG-4/Part 10-AVC. The main feature of SP-frames is that identical SP-frames can be reconstructed even when different reference frames are used for their prediction. This property allows them to replace I-frames in applications such as splicing, random access, and error recovery/resilience. We also include a description of SI-frames, which are used in conjunction with SP-frames. Finally, simulation results illustrating the coding efficiency of SP-frames are provided. It is shown that SP-frames have significantly better coding efficiency than I-frames while providing similar functionalities.

TL;DR: In this paper, a high-efficiency wideband code-division multiple access (W-CDMA) base station amplifier is presented using high-performance GaN heterostructure field effect transistors to achieve high gain and efficiency with good linearity.
Abstract: A high-efficiency wideband code-division multiple-access (W-CDMA) base-station amplifier is presented using high-performance GaN heterostructure field-effect transistors to achieve high gain and efficiency with good linearity For high efficiency, class J/E operation was employed, which can attain up to 80% efficiency over a wide range of input powers and power supply voltages For nonconstant envelope input, the average efficiency is further increased by employing the envelope-tracking architecture using a wide-bandwidth high-efficiency envelope amplifier The linearity of overall system is enhanced by digital pre-distortion The measured average power-added efficiency of the amplifier is as high as 507% for a W-CDMA modulated signal with peak-to-average power ratio of 767 dB at an average output power of 372 W and gain of 100 dB We believe that this corresponds to the best efficiency performance among reported base-station power amplifiers for W-CDMA The measured error vector magnitude is as low as 174% with adjacent channel leakage ratio of -510 dBc at an offset frequency of 5 MHz
