TL;DR: In this paper, an apparatus and method for displaying a plurality of icons on the display of a mobile terminal is described, in which icons are displayed in at least two different sections: the first section includes icons having sizes determined by comparing characteristics of associated messages to one or more context values, such as time of day, geographic area, or user profile characteristics.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for displaying a plurality of icons on the display of a mobile terminal are provided. Icons are displayed in at least two different sections. The first section includes icons having sizes determined by comparing characteristics of associated messages to one or more context values, such as time of day, geographic area, or user profile characteristics. The second section includes icons having sizes determined by the proximities of the message sources to the mobile terminal.

TL;DR: A novel demosaicing algorithm for the Bayer CFA, based on the local polynomial approximation and the paradigm of the intersection of confidence intervals applied to select varying scales of LPA, which is nonlinear and spatially‐adaptive with respect to the smoothness and irregularities of the image.
Abstract: Conventional single-chip digital cameras use color filter arrays (CFA) to sample different spectral components. Demosaicing algorithms interpolate these data to complete red, green, and blue values for each image pixel, to produce an RGB image. In this article, we propose a novel demosaicing algorithm for the Bayer CFA. For the algorithm design, we assume that, following the concept proposed in (Zhang and Wu, IEEE Trans Image Process 14 (2005), 2167–2178), the initial interpolation estimates of color channels contain two additive components: the true values of color intensities and the errors that are considered as an additive noise. A specially designed signal-adaptive filter is used to remove this so-called demosaicing noise. This filter is based on the local polynomial approximation (LPA) and the paradigm of the intersection of confidence intervals applied to select varying scales of LPA. This technique is nonlinear and spatially-adaptive with respect to the smoothness and irregularities of the image. The presented CFA interpolation (CFAI) technique takes significant advantage from assuming that the original data is noise-free. Nevertheless, in many applications, the observed data is noisy, where the noise is treated as an important intrinsic degradation of the data. We develop an adaptation of the proposed CFAI for noisy data, integrating the denoising and CFAI into a single procedure. It is assumed that the data is given according to the Bayer pattern and corrupted by signal-dependant noise common for charge-coupled device and complementary-symmetry/metal-oxide semiconductor sensors. The efficiency of the proposed approach is demonstrated by experimental results with simulated and real data. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Int J Imaging Syst Technol, 17, 105–122, 2007

TL;DR: In this paper, a dual rate filter was proposed to couple the control output to the power control amplifier so as to vary the gain of the output power signal in a radio frequency transmitter.
Abstract: A power control loop for a radio frequency transmitter includes a power control amplifier, an output and a detector that is coupled to the output for providing an output power signal indicative of output power from the power control loop. A controller generates at least first and second reference signals. A differential amplifier provides a control output that is indicative of a difference between the output power signal and a reference signal. A dual rate filter couples the control output to the power control amplifier so as to vary its gain. The dual rate filter exhibits a fast-reacting filter mode when the controller changes the reference signals to the differential amplifier and a slow-reacting filter mode when the controller applies the first reference signal to the differential amplifier. The fast filter mode enables rapid feedback of the control output to the power control amplifier.

TL;DR: In this article, a method and device for coding a digital image using intra-mode block prediction is presented, wherein a list of prediction modes for each combination of predictions modes of the neighboring blocks is obtained.
Abstract: A method and device for coding a digital image using intra-mode block prediction, wherein a list of prediction modes for each combination of prediction modes of the neighboring blocks is obtained. The modes assigned to each combination of prediction modes may be divided into two groups. The first group includes n (where n is smaller than the overall number of available modes) most probable prediction modes and the second group includes the remaining modes. The modes in the first group are ordered according to their probability. This order may be specified as a list of modes ordered from most probable to the least probable mode. The modes belonging to the second group may be ordered in some predetermined manner, which may be specified depending on the information already available to the decoder.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors propose a method and system for revenue sharing between mobile operators and content providers, where an intermediate proxy is disposed between a mobile operator and the data network to keep track of the data amount transmitted by the content providers and the users.
Abstract: A method and system (figure 2) for revenue sharing between mobile operators and content providers. The content providers, through a data network, provide data services to the end users of the mobile operators. For the data services, the content providers are paid by the mobile operators based on the revenue collected by the mobile operators from the end users using the services. An intermediate proxy is disposed between a mobile operator and the data network to keep track of the data amount transmitted by the content providers and the users to keep track of the revenue sharing agreements established between that mobile operator and the content providers. Additionally, an intermediate proxy is linked to each content provider to keep track of the data amount transmitted to the end users via a mobile operator and to keep track of the revenue sharing agreement with that mobile operator.
