Abstract: Summary
Morphological and functional investigations were carried out by comparing tissue samples of 50 ovine fetuses of different ages and of 5 newborn lambs. For the evaluation of immunogenesis, structural changes as well as certain functional characteristics of the lymphatic and myeloid systems were considered.
Histological studies revealed that the rings surrounding the central arteries of the spleen initially consisting of 2–4 layers of lymphoid cells grow to 15–20 cell layers by the 4-5th months of fetal development. In the latter rings Ig-positive cells are also detectable with the immunofluorescence test. Lymphoid cells of the suppressive subpopulation are detectable with the immunoperoxidase technique first in the liver of 2-month-old fetuses, they later appear in the spleen and thymus as well, where they remain detectable for 7 days after birth. These changes were accompanied by structural changes in the thymus, lymph nodes, Peyer's patches, liver and bone marrow. On morphological and functional grounds 4 stages were distinguished in the development of the immune system. The results were compared with data obtained from studies on fetuses in which an immune response had been artificially induced.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors compared the antioxidant properties of extracts from whole fruiting bodies and different morphological tissues (peel, inner cap, gills and stipes) of eight popular edible mushrooms.
Abstract: Antioxidant parameters of extracts from whole fruiting bodies and different morphological tissues (peel, inner cap, gills and stipes) of eight popular edible mushrooms were determined and compared. The examined species of both cultivated and wild mushrooms were analysed for total phenolic content (TPC) and free radical scavenging activity (RSA) by microplate assays. The average TPC in fruiting bodies of all mushrooms were 1.84 ± 1.1 mg/g DM (dry mass basis). Among the tissues the average TPC was highest in peels (2.14 ± 1.3 mg/g DM) and in gills (2.36 ± 1.4 mg/g DM). High RSA was measured in peel, gills and stipe tissues of Agaricus bisporus and Cyclocybe cylindracea (EC50 = 58–89 μg/ml), which is about 340 times stronger than RSA of Flammulina velutipes inner cap (EC50 = 19.570 mg/ml). TL;DR: Of all markers analysed, only LIN28A, REX1 and TERT were associated exclusively with pluripotent cells in the horse, and Expression of OCT4, NANOG and DNMT3B, but not the other markers, was detected in MSCs.
Abstract: Expression of several putative markers of pluripotency (OCT4, SOX2, NANOG, LIN28A, REX1, DNMT3B and TERT) was examined in a range of equine tissues, including early embryos, induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), testis, adipose- and bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs), and keratinocytes. Transcript levels of all markers were highest in embryos and iPSCs and, except for SOX2, were very low or undetectable in keratinocytes. Mean expression levels of all markers were lower in testis than in embryos or iPSCs and, except for DNMT3B, were higher in testis than in MSCs. Expression of OCT4, NANOG and DNMT3B, but not the other markers, was detected in MSCs. Of all markers analysed, only LIN28A, REX1 and TERT were associated exclusively with pluripotent cells in the horse.
