TLDR
It is shown that proteins, enzymes and DNA rapidly induce the formation of protective metal-organic framework coatings under physiological conditions by concentrating the framework building blocks and facilitating crystallization around the biomacromolecules.Abstract:
Robust biomacromolecules could be used for a wide range of biotechnological applications. Here the authors report a biomimetic mineralization process, in which biomolecules are encapsulated within metal-organic frameworks, and their stability is subsequently increased without significant bioactivity loss.read more

Autotemplate Microcapsules of CaCO3/Pectin and Nonstoichiometric Complexes as Sustained Tetracycline Hydrochloride Delivery Carriers.
Marcela Mihai,Stefania Racovita,Ana-Lavinia Vasiliu,Florica Doroftei,Cristian Barbu-Mic,Simona Schwarz,Christine Steinbach,Frank Simon +7 more
TL;DR: New types of composites were obtained by an autotemplate method for assembling hollow CaCO3 capsules by using pH-sensitive polymers using pectin samples and poly(allylamine hydrochloride), and the kinetics of the drug release mechanism was followed using Higuchi and Korsmeyer-Peppas mathematical models.

In situ assembled ZIF superstructures via an emulsion-free soft-templating approach
Namita Singh,Sana Ahmed,Aliyah Fakim,Somayah Qutub,Othman Alahmed,Omar El Tall,Osama Shekhah,Mohamed Eddaoudi,Niveen M. Khashab +8 more
TL;DR: This work proposes that this work will expand the repertoires of MOF superstructures by the judicious selection of precursors and the reaction medium by a single-step emulsion-free soft templating approach.

An ultra-sensitive selective fluorescent sensor based on a 3D zinc-tetracarboxylic framework for the detection and enrichment of trace Cu2+ in aqueous media.
TL;DR: In this article, a fluorescent zinc-organic framework sensor based on metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) was developed for detecting trace amounts of Cu2+ in aqueous media, which can be further extended to a variety of environmental and biological analysis processes.

Identification, characterization, immobilization, and mutational analysis of a novel acetylesterase with industrial potential (LaAcE) from Lactobacillus acidophilus.
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that LaAcE could be used as a model enzyme of acetylesterase in lactic acid bacteria, making LaAc E a great candidate for industrial applications.

ZnO@ZIF Core–Shell Single Crystals Formed by in Situ Conversion of ZnO Particles
TL;DR: In this article, the formation of two types of ZnO@ZIF core-shell single crystals through the in situ conversion of znO particles was reported. And the results showed that the single-site heterogeneous nucleation and growth of ZIF on the template surfaces are the key to the creation of ZNO@zIF core−shell single crystal.
