β-Glucans: Importance in Brewing and Methods of Analysis

TL;DR: In this paper, a review of the literature on β-glucans and methods of βglucan analysis is presented. And a modification of existing enzymatic methods is offered.
Journal ArticleDOI

Anatomy of the floral, bract, and foliar nectaries of Triumfetta semitriloba (Tiliaceae)

TL;DR: Sucrose, glucose, and fructose were identified in the product released by these secretory structures, characterizing them as nectaries, and their exudates were analyzed to describe the anatomy and analyze theirExudates.
Journal ArticleDOI

Expressed sequence tags from persimmon at different developmental stages.

TL;DR: This study provides the first global overview of a set of genes that are expressed during fruit development and ripening in persimmon and reports comparison of genes identified in the two cDNA libraries and describes some putative genes involved in proanthocyanidin and carotenoid synthesis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Biosynthetic studies of lactucin derivatives in hairy root cultures of Lactuca floridana

TL;DR: In this paper, the guaianolide-type sesquiterpene lactones 11βH,13-dihydrolactucin-8-O-acetate and 8-desoxylactucins were performed in Agrobacterium rhizogenes, transformed hairy root cultures of blue-flowered lettuce.

Nutritive value of some indigenous plant rhizomes resembling Ginger.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors have shown that the biologically important metals Cr, Mn, Cu, Zn, Ca and Na are sufficient in rhizomes of K. speciosa and A. galanga.

Optical Rotatory Dispersion. Its Application to Protein Conformation.

E. F. Woods, +1 more
TL;DR: Optical rotation has been found to be one of the most convenient methods of following the denaturation of proteins and rotatory dispersion is capable of providing information on the folding of the polypeptide chain in proteins and the changes accompanying denaturation.
