Radial transport of abscisic acid conjugates in maize roots: its implication for long distance stress signals.
Angela Sauter,Wolfram Hartung +1 more
TL;DR: Experimental evidence is presented that enzymes in the cortical apoplast cleave ABA-GE thus releasing ABA from its conjugates, which can be released from isolated cortical and stelar tissues to the surrounding media, with rates that are up to 5-fold higher from stalar tissues than those from cortical tissues.
Journal ArticleDOI
Climate variability in the Early Pliocene Arctic: Annually resolved evidence from stable isotope values of sub-fossil wood, Ellesmere Island, Canada
TL;DR: The authors applied stable isotope techniques to wood that represent the remains of Mixed-Coniferous Boreal Vegetation preserved in Early Pliocene (4-5) deposits at Strathcona Fiord, Ellesmere Island, Canada (ca. 78°N).
Journal ArticleDOI
Putranjiva roxburghii oil - a potential herbal preservative for peanuts during storage.
N.N. Tripathi,Narendra Kumar +1 more
TL;DR: The oil of Putranjiva roxburghii showed potential as a preservative for peanut seeds against spoilage by fungi and insects during storage and exhibited the greatest toxicity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of roasting and pressure-cooking on nutritional and protein quality of seeds of mangrove legume Canavalia cathartica from southwest coast of India
TL;DR: This study clearly indicated that Canavalia cathartica seeds of mangroves possess high protein and EAA, and improved methods of processing are essential to maximize the quality of protein with minimum loss of seed nutrients.
Book ChapterDOI
The digestion of protein and nitrogenous compounds in ruminants.
TL;DR: A sketch of present-day knowledge of the digestion by the ruminant animal of proteins and nitrogenous compounds is presented and a wide variety of new experimental techniques for direct study of the digestive processes is developed.

Optical Rotatory Dispersion. Its Application to Protein Conformation.
E. F. Woods,Donnell +1 more
TL;DR: Optical rotation has been found to be one of the most convenient methods of following the denaturation of proteins and rotatory dispersion is capable of providing information on the folding of the polypeptide chain in proteins and the changes accompanying denaturation.
