Modulation of growth, ascorbate-glutathione cycle and thiol metabolism in rice (Oryza sativa L. cv. MTU-1010) seedlings by arsenic and silicon

TL;DR: Joint application of silicate along with arsenate showed significant alterations on all the parameters tested compared to arsenate treatment alone due to less availability of arsenic in the tissue leading to better growth and metabolism in rice seedlings.
Journal ArticleDOI

Genetic Improvement of Seedling Emergence of Low-Phytate Soybean Lines

Loren A. Trimble, +1 more
- 01 Jan 2010 -
TL;DR: If LP lines with improved emergence are capable of producing progeny with equal or higher emergence when crossed to NP parents is determined, and multiple seed sources should be used to identifyLP lines with superior emergence.

Phytochemical studies of Svensonia hyderobadensis (walp.) Mold: A rare medicinal plant

TL;DR: Svensonia hyderobadensis (Verbenaceae) is a medicinal plant and i ncluded under the list of rare plant species as discussed by the authors, which contains secondary metabolites of flavo noids, phenols, glycosides, lignin, tannins, terpenoids, saponins, steroids and coumarins.

Fruit quality in almond: chemical aspects for breeding strategies.

O. Kodad, +1 more
TL;DR: Large differences in tocopherol content have been found between cultivars and selections, allowing an effective selection process for this trait in breeding programmes because of their implication in the industrial, nutritional and healthy value of the almond kernels.
Journal ArticleDOI

Production of Polyketide Pigments in Hairy Root Cultures of Cassia Plants

TL;DR: Hairy root cultures of three Cassia plants induced by infection with Agrobacterium rhizogenes were investigated to investigate their production and biosynthesis of phenolic pigments of polyketide origin and revealed the high biosynthetic activity of germichrysone.

Allgemeine Charakterisierung eines Enzyms

W. Heinen
Book ChapterDOI

Optical Rotatory Dispersion. Its Application to Protein Conformation.

E. F. Woods, +1 more
TL;DR: Optical rotation has been found to be one of the most convenient methods of following the denaturation of proteins and rotatory dispersion is capable of providing information on the folding of the polypeptide chain in proteins and the changes accompanying denaturation.
