Journal ArticleDOI

Structure and differentiation of the cell wall of Phytophthora palmivora: Cysts, hyphae and sporangia

TL;DR: The textural and structural differentiation of the cell wall may play a decisive role in cellular morphogenesis as well as significant differences in the relative proportion of 1,3-, 1,6- and 1,4-linked glucosyl residues among the three wall types.
Journal ArticleDOI

Changes in carbon partitioning or allocation due to ectomycorrhiza formation: biochemical evidence

TL;DR: Based on the in vitro synthesis of ectomycorrhizas between spruce seedlings and different fungal partners, biochemical parameters connected to the regulation of both formation and utilisation of these fungi are assessed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evidence for the contribution of pseudocyclic photophosphorylation to the energy requirement of the mechanism for concentrating inorganic carbon in Chlamydomonas

TL;DR: Mass-spectrometric measurements of 16O2 and 18O2 were made to compare the rates of light-dependent O2 evolution and uptake by Chlamydomonas reinhardtii Dang, consistent with an enhanced operation of O2 photoreduction which could provide energy to the inorganic-carbon-concentrating mechanism via pseudo-cyclic photophosphorylation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Purification and characterization of olive (Olea europaea L.) peroxidase – Evidence for the occurrence of a pectin binding peroxidase

TL;DR: Co-migration of the carbohydrate with the protein band in the isoelectric focusing electrophoresis, points to PODa4 fraction as being a pectin type binding peroxidase.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mercury-induced conformational changes and identification of conserved surface loops in plasma membrane aquaporins from higher plants. Topology of PMIP31 from Beta vulgaris L.

TL;DR: The results demonstrate that the two highly conserved plasma membrane intrinsic protein surface loops are structural features that clearly distinguish plasma membrane from tonoplast aquaporins.

Allgemeine Charakterisierung eines Enzyms

W. Heinen

Optical Rotatory Dispersion. Its Application to Protein Conformation.

E. F. Woods, +1 more
TL;DR: Optical rotation has been found to be one of the most convenient methods of following the denaturation of proteins and rotatory dispersion is capable of providing information on the folding of the polypeptide chain in proteins and the changes accompanying denaturation.
