13 Dec 1972TL;DR: In this paper, a weather and damage resistant tag is made from a lamination of thin soft metal sheet and cross woven fiberglass securely bonded together with an adhesive, and the tag is secured to the tag with the metal portion of the patch uppermost surrounding any attachment orifices extending through the tag body.
Abstract: A weather and damage resistant tag is made from a lamination of thin soft metal sheet and cross woven fiberglass securely bonded together with an adhesive. Reinforcing patches composed of a lamination of thin sheet metal and a woven cloth backing are preferably secured to the tag with the metal portion of the patch uppermost surrounding any attachment orifices extending through the tag body.

08 Dec 1982TL;DR: In this paper, two computer-based subsystems for determining temperature of an irradiant mass movable through process means in a hostile environment exemplified as coke guide and coke oven in a battery of ovens.
Abstract: Production-worthy method and system comprising two computer-based subsystems for determining temperature of an irradiant mass movable through process means in a hostile environment exemplified as coke guide and coke oven in a battery of ovens. System is usable in other industries such as at cement kilns and the like. First subsystem which is carried by a movable coke guide/door machine, includes one or more coke guide pyrometers arranged vertically, each with a sighting window monitor to detect optical errors, an onboard computerized and cooled electronics package for acquiring and processing temperature data and automatically detecting same for pyrometer drift and optical errors, and automatically correcting for these errors, and further including a plug-in portable terminal with a printer. The second subsystem stationed in a central office having a base computer package with various computation and storage capabilities including a CRT control terminal for operator interaction with the entire system, a line printer and a printer/plotter. Two-way data communication between the two subsystems is exemplified by a two-way radio link. Each subsystem logs both coke level data and coke vertical and horizontal temperature profile data and alarm messages. Tabular printouts of temperature and diagnostic data are provided by both the portable terminal printer in the onboard subsystem and the base computer printers. Graphical displays are also provided by the base computer system of coke level, temperature and summary data, oven push schedules and/or self-diagnostic messages of various process and measurement operations.

27 Jun 1979TL;DR: In this paper, a method for treating a water slurry of granulated blast furnace slag containing particles having a size consist of about 0.635 centimeter × 0 (1/4 inch by 0).
Abstract: A method for treating a water slurry of granulated blast furnace slag containing particles of granulated slag having a size consist of about 0.635 centimeter × 0 (1/4 inch by 0) wherein a size separation of the particles is made at about 100 sieve. The sink fraction i.e. coarse particles larger than 100 mesh are partially dewatered and thermally dried prior to being comminuted with raw materials to make portland blast furnace slag cement. The float fraction i.e. fine particles smaller than 100 mesh can be used as is or partially dried prior to being used as an additive or extender for a cementitious material in the production of concrete products.

03 Jun 1999TL;DR: In this paper, a method of making a weathering grade steel plate includes the steps of casting, hot rolling, and accelerated cooling using a modified weathering-grade alloy composition employing effective levels of manganese, carbon, niobium, molybdenum, nitrogen, and titanium.
Abstract: A method of making a weathering grade steel plate includes the steps of casting, hot rolling, and accelerated cooling using a modified weathering grade alloy composition. The composition employs effective levels of manganese, carbon, niobium, molybdenum, nitrogen, and titanium. After the casting, the slab or ingot is heated and rough rolled to an intermediate gauge plate. The intermediate gauge plate is controlled finish temperature rolled and subjected to accelerated cooling. With the controlled alloy chemistry, rolling and cooling, the final gauge plate exhibits continuous yielding and can be used for applications requiring a 70 KSI minimum yield strength, a 90-110 KSI tensile strength, and a Charpy V-notch toughness greater than 35 ft-lbs. at −10° F. in plates up to 4.0″ thick.
