Analysis of the methylation status of the KCNQ1OT and H19 genes in leukocyte DNA for the diagnosis and prognosis of Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome.
TL;DR: Results show that analysis of the methylation status of KvDMR1 and the H19 gene in leukocyte DNA is useful in the diagnosis of 11p15-related overgrowth syndromes, resulting in the diagnoses of BWS in more than 70% of investigated patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Intensive Nutrition in Acute Lung Injury A Clinical Trial (INTACT)
Carol A. Braunschweig,Patricia M. Sheean,Sarah J. Peterson,Sandra Gomez Perez,Sally Freels,Omar Lateef,David Gurka,Giamila Fantuzzi +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, a prospective randomized trial was conducted evaluating the impact on outcomes of intensive medical nutrition therapy (IMNT; provision of >75% of estimated energy and protein needs per day via EN and adequate oral diet) from diagnosis of acute lung injury (ALI) to hospital discharge compared with standard nutrition support care (SNSC; standard EN and ad lib feeding).
Journal ArticleDOI
Blood pressure indices and cardiovascular disease in the Asia Pacific region: a pooled analysis.
Carlene M.M. Lawes,Bennett Da,Parag,Mark Woodward,Gillian Whitlock,Tai Hing Lam,Il Suh,Anthony Rodgers +7 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that if time or resources are highly constrained, such as in much-needed epidemiologic surveys in developing countries, very little is lost from only measuring SBP.
Journal ArticleDOI
Clinical significance of HOX11L2 expression linked to t(5;14)(q35;q32), of HOX11 expression, and of SIL-TAL fusion in childhood T-cell malignancies: results of EORTC studies 58881 and 58951
Hélène Cavé,Stefan Suciu,Claude Preudhomme,Bruce Poppe,Alain Robert,Anne Uyttebroeck,Michèle Malet,Patrick Boutard,Yves Benoit,Laurent Mauvieux,Patrick Lutz,Francoise Mechinaud,Nathalie Grardel,Françoise Mazingue,Madeleine Dupont,Geneviève Margueritte,Marie-Pierre Pages,Yves Bertrand,Emmanuel Plouvier,G Brunie,Christian Bastard,Dominique Plantaz,Isabel Vande Velde,Anne Hagemeijer,Frank Speleman,Michel Lessard,Jacques Otten,Etienne Vilmer,Nicole Dastugue +28 more
TL;DR: In a series of 153 children with T-cell malignancies enrolled in 2 consecutive European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) trials, the authors assessed the HOX11L2 expression and/or the presence of a t(5;14)(q35;q32).
Journal ArticleDOI
Clinical and Radiological Recurrence After Childhood Arterial Ischemic Stroke
TL;DR: Clinical and radiological recurrence are common after childhood AIS, and the risk of clinical recurrence is increased in children with moyamoya and, in previously healthy patients, in those with genetic thrombophilia.

Mineral Metabolism, Mortality, and Morbidity in Maintenance Hemodialysis
Geoffrey A. Block,Preston S. Klassen,J. Michael Lazarus,Norma J. Ofsthun,Edmund G. Lowrie,Glenn M. Chertow +5 more
TL;DR: Hyperphosphatemia and hyperparathyroidism were significantly associated with all-cause, cardiovascular, and fracture-related hospitalization, and the population attributable risk percentage for disorders of mineral metabolism was 17.5%, owing largely to the high prevalence of hyperph phosphatemia.

Overall Survival and Updated Results for Sunitinib Compared With Interferon Alfa in Patients With Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma
Robert J. Motzer,Thomas E. Hutson,Piotr Tomczak,M. Dror Michaelson,Ronald M. Bukowski,Stéphane Oudard,Sylvie Negrier,Cezary Szczylik,Roberto Pili,Georg A. Bjarnason,Xavier Garcia-del-Muro,Jeffrey A. Sosman,Ewa Solska,George Wilding,John A. Thompson,Sindy T. Kim,Isan Chen,Xin Huang,Robert A. Figlin +18 more
TL;DR: Sunitinib demonstrates longer overall survival compared with IFN-alpha plus improvement in response and progression-free survival in the first-line treatment of patients with metastatic RCC, highlighting an improved prognosis in patients with RCC in the era of targeted therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy or Primary Surgery in Stage IIIC or IV Ovarian Cancer
Ignace Vergote,Claes G. Tropé,Frédéric Amant,G.B. Kristensen,Tom Ehlen,N Johnson,René H.M. Verheijen,Maria E. L. van der Burg,A. J. Lacave,Pierluigi Benedetti Panici,Gemma G. Kenter,Antonio Casado,Cesar Mendiola,Corneel Coens,Leen Verleye,Gavin Stuart,Sergio Pecorelli,Nicholas Reed +17 more
TL;DR: Neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by interval debulking surgery was not inferior to primary debulked surgery followed by chemotherapy as a treatment option for patients with bulky stage IIIC or IV ovarian carcinoma in this study.
Journal ArticleDOI
Survival and Prognostic Stratification of 670 Patients With Advanced Renal Cell Carcinoma
TL;DR: Five prognostic factors for predicting survival were identified and used to categorize patients with metastatic RCC into three risk groups, for which the median survival times were separated by 6 months or more.
