The Use of Cu-W Sinters in MIG-MAG Welding Contact Tips for Improved Continuous Wire Abrasion Performance

TL;DR: In this paper , the most worn part of the contact guides used in the gas welding robots were assembled by making pins from doped and undoped copper powders using the powder metallurgy method.
Journal ArticleDOI

Spinodal liquid phase separation enabling dissimilar resistance spot welding of immiscible iron and copper alloy system

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors identified that despite the immiscibility of Cu and Fe in the solid-state, metastable liquid phase separation enables a metallurgical joining between CU and Fe. Utilizing electrodes of different geometries enabled the formation of a mixed Cu-Fe fusion zone.
Journal ArticleDOI

Investigation of macrostructure, microstructure, and hot cracking susceptibility of laser-welded Inconel-718 superalloy under various post-cold treatment environments

TL;DR: In this article , the effect of various cooling environments on macrostructural, microstructural and hot cracking sensitivity of Nd: YAG pulsed laser welded Inconel-718 superalloy was investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Study of the Heat Exchange and Relaxation Conditions of Residual Stresses Due to Welding of Austenitic Stainless Steel

TL;DR: In this paper , a numerical prediction of residual stresses using the single-pass tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding process for stainless steel plates and the two-pass TIG welding process was presented, where the effect of heat exchange between welding material and the environment was studied.

A review on selective laser sintering/melting (SLS/SLM) of aluminium alloy powders: Processing, microstructure, and properties

TL;DR: In this article, the state of the art in selective laser sintering/melting (SLS/SLM) processing of aluminium powders is reviewed from different perspectives, including powder metallurgy (P/M), pulsed electric current (PECS), and laser welding of aluminium alloys.
Journal ArticleDOI

Dislocation network in additive manufactured steel breaks strength–ductility trade-off

TL;DR: In this article, the authors show that the pre-existing dislocation network, which maintains its configuration during the entire plastic deformation, is an ideal modulator that is able to slow down but not entirely block the dislocation motion.
Journal ArticleDOI

Critical review of automotive steels spot welding: process, structure and properties

TL;DR: In this article, the fundamental understanding of structure-properties relationship in automotive steels resistance spot welds is discussed. And a brief review of friction stir spot welding, as an alternative to RSW, is also included.
Journal ArticleDOI

Revisiting fundamental welding concepts to improve additive manufacturing: From theory to practice

TL;DR: In this article, a unified equation to compute the energy density is proposed to compare works performed with distinct equipment and experimental conditions, covering the major process parameters: power, travel speed, heat source dimension, hatch distance, deposited layer thickness and material grain size.
Journal ArticleDOI

Using deep neural network with small dataset to predict material defects

TL;DR: This study attempted to predict solidification defects by DNN regression with a small dataset that contains 487 data points and found that a pre-trained and fine-tuned DNN shows better generalization performance over shallow neural network, support vector machine, and DNN trained by conventional methods.
