TL;DR: A novel approach to identify salient object regions in videos via object proposals by ranking and selecting the salient proposals based on object-level saliency cues, which produces significant improvements over state-of-the-art algorithms.
Abstract: In this paper, we introduce a novel approach to identify salient object regions in videos via object proposals. The core idea is to solve the saliency detection problem by ranking and selecting the salient proposals based on object-level saliency cues. Object proposals offer a more complete and high-level representation, which naturally caters to the needs of salient object detection. As well as introducing this novel solution for video salient object detection, we reorganize various discriminative saliency cues and traditional saliency assumptions on object proposals. With object candidates, a proposal ranking and voting scheme, based on various object-level saliency cues, is designed to screen out nonsalient parts, select salient object regions, and to infer an initial saliency estimate. Then a saliency optimization process that considers temporal consistency and appearance differences between salient and nonsalient regions is used to refine the initial saliency estimates. Our experiments on public datasets (SegTrackV2, Freiburg–Berkeley Motion Segmentation Dataset, and Densely Annotated Video Segmentation) validate the effectiveness, and the proposed method produces significant improvements over state-of-the-art algorithms.

TL;DR: A dual-path CMOS rectifier with adaptive control for ultrahigh-frequency (UHF) RF energy harvesters and can be maintained above 20% with an 11-dB input range from −16 to −5 dBm, while only an 8- dB input range can be achieved with traditional single-path rectifiers.
Abstract: This brief presents a dual-path CMOS rectifier with adaptive control for ultrahigh-frequency (UHF) RF energy harvesters. The input power range with high power conversion efficiency (high PCE) of the rectifier is extended by the proposed architecture, which includes a low-power path and a high-power path. The dual-path rectifier with an adaptive control circuit is fabricated in a 65-nm CMOS process. Operating at 900 MHz and driving a 147-kΩ load resistor, the measured PCE of this work can be maintained above 20% with an 11-dB input range from -16 to -5 dBm, while only an 8-dB input range can be achieved with traditional single-path rectifiers. A sensitivity of -17.7 dBm is measured with 1-V output voltage across a capacitive load.

TL;DR: Single-dose i.v. ketamine augmentation of escitalopram was safe and effective in severe MDD, holding promise for speeding up early oral antidepressant efficacy.
Abstract: Background While oral antidepressants reach efficacy after weeks, single-dose intravenous (i.v.) ketamine has rapid, yet time-limited antidepressant effects. We aimed to determine the efficacy and safety of single-dose i.v. ketamine augmentation of escitalopram in major depressive disorder (MDD). Method Thirty outpatients with severe MDD (17-item Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression total score ⩾24) were randomized to 4 weeks double-blind treatment with escitalopram 10 mg/day+single-dose i.v. ketamine (0.5 mg/kg over 40 min) or escitalopram 10 mg/day + placebo (0.9% i.v. saline). Depressive symptoms were measured using the Montgomery–Asberg Depression Rating Scale (MADRS) and the Quick Inventory of Depressive Symptomatology – Self-Report (QIDS-SR). Suicidal ideation was evaluated with the QIDS-SR item 12. Adverse psychopathological effects were measured with the Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale (BPRS)-positive symptoms, Young Mania Rating Scale (YMRS) and Clinician Administered Dissociative States Scale (CADSS). Patients were assessed at baseline, 1, 2, 4, 24 and 72 h and 7, 14, 21 and 28 days. Time to response (⩾50% MADRS score reduction) was the primary outcome. Results By 4 weeks, more escitalopram + ketamine-treated than escitalopram + placebo-treated patients responded (92.3% v. 57.1%, p = 0.04) and remitted (76.9% v. 14.3%, p = 0.001), with significantly shorter time to response [hazard ratio (HR) 0.04, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.01–0.22, p < 0.001] and remission (HR 0.11, 95% CI 0.02–0.63, p = 0.01). Compared to escitalopram + placebo, escitalopram + ketamine was associated with significantly lower MADRS scores from 2 h to 2 weeks [(peak = 3 days–2 weeks; effect size (ES) = 1.08–1.18)], QIDS-SR scores from 2 h to 2 weeks (maximum ES = 1.27), and QIDS-SR suicidality from 2 to 72 h (maximum ES = 2.24). Only YMRS scores increased significantly with ketamine augmentation (1 and 2 h), without significant BPRS or CADSS elevation. Conclusions Single-dose i.v. ketamine augmentation of escitalopram was safe and effective in severe MDD, holding promise for speeding up early oral antidepressant efficacy.

TL;DR: In this paper, the properties of CsPb(IxBr1−x)3 and their applications in solar cells are discussed and the current challenges and corresponding solutions are discussed.
Abstract: Owing to its nice performance, low cost, and simple solution-processing, organic-inorganic hybrid perovskite solar cell (PSC) becomes a promising candidate for next-generation high-efficiency solar cells. The power conversion efficiency (PCE) has boosted from 3.8% to 25.2% over the past ten years. Despite the rapid progress in PCE, the device stability is a key issue that impedes the commercialization of PSCs. Recently, all-inorganic cesium lead halide perovskites have attracted much attention due to their better stability compared with their organic-inorganic counterpart. In this progress report, we summarize the properties of CsPb(IxBr1−x)3 and their applications in solar cells. The current challenges and corresponding solutions are discussed. Finally, we share our perspectives on CsPb(IxBr1−x)3 solar cells and outline possible directions to further improve the device performance.
