Abstract
In recent years, great emphasis has been placed on the role of arterial stiffness in the development of cardiovascular diseases. Indeed, the assessment of arterial stiffness is increasingly used in the clinical assessment of patients. Although several papers have previously addressed the methodological issues concerning the various indices of arterial stiffness currently available, and their clinical applications, clinicians and researchers still report difficulties in selecting the most appropriate methodology for their specific use. This paper summarizes the proceedings of several meetings of the European Network for Non-invasive Investigation of Large Arteries and is aimed at providing an updated and practical overview of the most relevant methodological aspects and clinical applications in this area.

Effects of Continuous Positive Airway Pressure Treatment and Withdrawal in Patients With Obstructive Sleep Apnea on Arterial Stiffness and Central BP

TL;DR: It is suggested that clinically important changes in arterial stiffness and central BP may occur following effective CPAP treatment of OSA without parallel changes in peripheral BP.

Paris Prospective Study III: a study of novel heart rate parameters, baroreflex sensitivity and risk of sudden death

TL;DR: This unique study should provide new insights into the regulation of heart rate and blood pressure and should enable to identify novel heart rate parameters that are associated with sudden death.

Hypertension in African Americans

TL;DR: Racial health disparities related to hypertension in African Americans are a serious public health concern that warrants greater attention and multi-disciplinary research to understand the inter-relationship between biological and social factors is needed to guide successful treatments.

Early Prediction of Increased Arterial Stiffness in Patients with Chronic Inflammation: A 15-year Followup Study of 108 Patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis

TL;DR: Inflammation early in the RA disease course was associated with increased AIx and PWV after 15 years, supporting the importance of early control of the inflammatory process in patients with RA.
