NIH Image to ImageJ: 25 years of image analysis

TLDR
The origins, challenges and solutions of NIH Image and ImageJ software are discussed, and how their history can serve to advise and inform other software projects.
Abstract
For the past 25 years NIH Image and ImageJ software have been pioneers as open tools for the analysis of scientific images. We discuss the origins, challenges and solutions of these two programs, and how their history can serve to advise and inform other software projects.

Polymorph-specific kinetics and thermodynamics of β-amyloid fibril growth

TL;DR: It is shown that the two polymorphs have significantly different rates of fragmentation in the presence of shear forces, a difference that helps explain the observed predominance of the A structure when fibrils are grown in agitated solutions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Clathrin-dependent endocytosis is required for immunity mediated by pattern recognition receptor kinases

TL;DR: It is proposed that clathrin-dependent internalization of ligand-activated receptor kinases into a common endosomal pathway facilitates the responses required for full plant immunity, and that immunity mediated by pattern recognition receptors depends onClathrin, a critical component for the endocytosis of signaling competent receptors into acommon endosomes.
Journal ArticleDOI

The nanoparticle protein corona formed in human blood or human blood fractions.

TL;DR: Different differences in the protein corona formed in whole blood, whole blood with EDTA, plasma, or serum are shown and it is shown that the nanoparticle size per se influences the formedprotein corona due to curvature effects.

Protective role of sodium butyrate, a HDAC inhibitor on beta-cell proliferation, function and glucose homeostasis through modulation of p38/ERK MAPK and apoptotic pathways: study in juvenile diabetic rat.

TL;DR: NaB treatment improved the beta-cell proliferation, function and glucose homeostasis as well as reduced beta- cell apoptosis in juvenile diabetic rat by the modulation of p38/ERK MAPK and apoptotic pathway.
