Exploiting the Phenomenon of Liquid-Liquid Phase Separation for Enhanced and Sustained Membrane Transport of a Poorly Water-Soluble Drug.

TL;DR: A first-principles mathematical model was developed which was able to fit the experimental receiver concentration-time profiles for concentration regimes both below and above amorphous solubility, providing support for the contention that the nanodroplet phase does not directly diffuse across a membrane but, instead, rapidly replenishes the drug in the aqueous phase that has been removed by transport across the membrane.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparative studies of the enhancing effects of cyclodextrins on the solubility and oral bioavailability of tacrolimus in rats.

TL;DR: DM-beta-CyD is particularly useful in designing oral preparations of tacrolimus with an enhanced bioavailability and a reduced variability in absorption, according to the results of an in vivo study.

Amorphous formulations for dissolution and bioavailability enhancement of poorly soluble APIs

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors discuss the need for active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) in the amorphous state, use of several techniques to amorphize APIs and enhance the stability of API under stress test conditions.

Comparative interaction of 2-hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin and sulfobutylether-β-cyclodextrin with itraconazole: Phase-solubility behavior and stabilization of supersaturated drug solutions

TL;DR: Hydrophilic cyclodextrins might be useful formulation adjuncts in supersaturating drug delivery systems and are found to stabilize concentrations of itraconazole significantly in excess of their equilibrium solubility when supersaturated solutions were formed using the co-solvent/solvent quench approach.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cyclodextrins and ternary complexes: technology to improve solubility of poorly soluble drugs

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors address aspects related to drug complexation with CDs using water-soluble polymers to optimize the amount of CD used in the formulation in order to increase drug solubility and reduce dosage form volume.

The Determination of Enzyme Dissociation Constants

TL;DR: On the basis of the assumed theory the rate of the observed reaction is directly proportional to the concentration of the enzyme-substrate compound, where (E:l = (ES).

Cyclodextrin Inclusion Compounds in Research and Industry

TL;DR: As cyclodextrins catalyze several chemical reactions they and their functionalized derivatives provide useful enzyme models and can be used to advantage in the production of pharmaceuticals, pesticides, foodstuffs, and toilet articles.
