Journal ArticleDOI

Complexation induced aggregation and deaggregation of acridine orange with sulfobutylether-β-cyclodextrin.

TL;DR: The intriguing observation of sequential fluorescence switch off and switch on for an AOH+-SBE βCD system is clearly facilitated by the presence of butylether chains with SO3- end groups at the portals of SBEβCD, providing an additional ion-ion interaction and much enhanced hydrophobic interaction for cationic AOH+, compared to the native βCD host.
Journal ArticleDOI

Dyeing and antibacterial activation with methylene blue of a cyclodextrin modified polyester vascular graft

TL;DR: Kinetic and sorption isotherm studies showed that an impregnation of the polyCD modified prosthesis (PET-CD) in a 1 g L−1 of MB solution for 150 min was sufficient to reach the saturation of the device and the adsorption mechanism followed the Langmuir model.
Journal ArticleDOI

Formulations and toxicologic in vivo studies of aqueous cyclosporin A eye drops with cyclodextrin nanoparticles

TL;DR: The surfactant free aqueous 0.2% CyA eye drops did not cause ocular irritation or toxic side effects upon topical administration to rabbits once or twice a day for three months and were tested in vivo.
Journal ArticleDOI

Induction of Dendritic Cell Maturation and Activation by a Potential Adjuvant, 2-Hydroxypropyl-β-Cyclodextrin.

TL;DR: The data suggest that HP-β-CD induces phenotypic and functional maturation of DCs mainly mediated through lipid raft formation, which might mediate the adjuvanticity of HP- β-CD.
Journal ArticleDOI

Shear thinning/self-healing hydrogel based on natural polymers with secondary photocrosslinking for biomedical applications.

TL;DR: The design and characterization of a shear thinning hydrogel that undergoes a disassembly when shear forces are applied during injection and is self-healing once the shearforces are removed is described.

The Determination of Enzyme Dissociation Constants

TL;DR: On the basis of the assumed theory the rate of the observed reaction is directly proportional to the concentration of the enzyme-substrate compound, where (E:l = (ES).

Cyclodextrin Inclusion Compounds in Research and Industry

TL;DR: As cyclodextrins catalyze several chemical reactions they and their functionalized derivatives provide useful enzyme models and can be used to advantage in the production of pharmaceuticals, pesticides, foodstuffs, and toilet articles.

Stability of Protein Pharmaceuticals

TL;DR: Current methodology to stabilize proteins is presented, including additives, excipients, chemical modification, and the use of site-directed mutagenesis to produce a more stable protein species.
