Ways of interacting: What underlies instructional coaches’ discursive actions

TL;DR: In this paper, a case study of a teacher-coach conference interaction has been presented, revealing that coaches use a continuum of stances from directive to facilitative (e.g., Collet, 2012; Heineke, 2013), and that it is important to attend to coaches' overall or macro-orientations when coaching, which define as their underlying values and assumptions about teaching and learning.
