Protective effect of antioxidant peptides from grass carp scale gelatin on the H2O2-mediated oxidative injured HepG2 cells

- 01 Mar 2022 -
TL;DR: In this paper , the effect of GSGH on H 2 O 2 -oxidative injured HepG2 cells was investigated, and the peptide structure was studied, and most peptides were low molecular weight peptide at 358-986 Da.
Journal ArticleDOI

Epithelial–mesenchymal transition: The history, regulatory mechanism, and cancer therapeutic opportunities

TL;DR: EMT confers cancer cells with increased metastatic potential and drug resistant capacity, which accounts for tumor recurrence in most clinic cases, and targeting EMT can be a therapeutic option providing a chance of cure for cancer patients.
Journal ArticleDOI

Norisoboldine, a natural aryl hydrocarbon receptor agonist, alleviates TNBS-induced colitis in mice, by inhibiting the activation of NLRP3 inflammasome.

TL;DR: NOR ameliorated TNBS-induced colitis in mice through inhibiting NLRP3 inflammasome activation via regulating AhR/Nrf2/ROS signaling pathway and correlations between activation of AhR and attenuation of colitis were validated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Computational prediction for oxidation and reduction potentials of organic molecules used in organic light-emitting diodes

TL;DR: In this paper, the performance of 13 density functionals (i.e., PBE, BLYP, B3LYP, PBE0, M06,M062X, M6HF, CAM-B3lyP, ωB97, B97XD, LC-ωPBE* and B2PLYP) for estimating the EOX and ERED of 50 compounds used in organic light emitting diodes on the basis of thermodynamic cycles for electron transfer.

Multidirectional investigations on different parts of Allium scorodoprasum L. subsp. rotundum (L.) Stearn: Phenolic components, in vitro biological, and in silico propensities.

TL;DR: The results suggest that the different plant parts of A. scorodoprasum possessed different biological activities and might be used as a medicinal food plants for specific therapeutic applications.

The Amyloid Hypothesis of Alzheimer's Disease: Progress and Problems on the Road to Therapeutics

TL;DR: It has been more than 10 years since it was first proposed that the neurodegeneration in Alzheimer's disease (AD) may be caused by deposition of amyloid β-peptide in plaques in brain tissue and the rest of the disease process is proposed to result from an imbalance between Aβ production and Aβ clearance.
Journal ArticleDOI

Free radicals and antioxidants in normal physiological functions and human disease

TL;DR: Attention is focussed on the ROS/RNS-linked pathogenesis of cancer, cardiovascular disease, atherosclerosis, hypertension, ischemia/reperfusion injury, diabetes mellitus, neurodegenerative diseases, rheumatoid arthritis, and ageing.
Journal ArticleDOI

Targeting cancer cells by ROS-mediated mechanisms: a radical therapeutic approach?

TL;DR: It is argued that modulating the unique redox regulatory mechanisms of cancer cells might be an effective strategy to eliminate these cells.

The effect of vitamin E and beta carotene on the incidence of lung cancer and other cancers in male smokers

TL;DR: No reduction in the incidence of lung cancer among male smokers is found after five to eight years of dietary supplementation with alpha-tocopherol or beta carotene, and this trial raises the possibility that these supplements may actually have harmful as well as beneficial effects.
