Journal ArticleDOI
A polysaccharide virulence factor from Aspergillus fumigatus elicits anti-inflammatory effects through induction of Interleukin-1 receptor antagonist.
Mark S. Gresnigt,Silvia Bozza,Katharina L. Becker,Leo A. B. Joosten,Shahla Abdollahi-Roodsaz,Wim B. van der Berg,Charles A. Dinarello,Charles A. Dinarello,Mihai G. Netea,Thierry Fontaine,Antonella De Luca,Silvia Moretti,Luigina Romani,Jean-Paul Latgé,Frank L. van de Veerdonk +14 more
TL;DR: The observation that GAG can also protect mice from allergy and colitis makes GAG or a derivative structure of GAG a potential treatment compound for IL-1 driven inflammatory diseases, as GAG was able to reduce severity of an experimental model of allergic aspergillosis and in a murine DSS-induced colitis model.
Journal ArticleDOI
Interleukin 1 (IL-1)-dependent melanoma hepatic metastasis in vivo; increased endothelial adherence by IL-1-induced mannose receptors and growth factor production in vitro
Fernando Vidal-Vanaclocha,Antonia Alvarez,Aintzane Asumendi,Blanca Urcelay,Paola Tonino,Charles A. Dinarello +5 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that systemic inflammation induces an enhancement of melanoma cell metastasis and growth by IL-1-dependent mechanisms in vivo and in vitro.
Journal Article
Interleukin-18 binding protein reduces b16 melanoma hepatic metastasis by neutralizing adhesiveness and growth factors of sinusoidal endothelium.
Maria Teresa Carrascal,Lorea Mendoza,María Valcárcel,Clarisa Salado,Eider Egilegor,Naiara Telleria,Fernando Vidal-Vanaclocha,Charles A. Dinarello +7 more
TL;DR: A significant role is demonstrated on hepatic metastasis by up-regulating melanoma cell adhesion to HSE cells and tumor growth, implicating a possible antimetastatic benefit of neutralizing IL-18.
Journal ArticleDOI
Stimulation of neutrophil oxygen-dependent metabolism by human leukocytic pyrogen.
TL;DR: Observations reported here may, in part, explain the nonspecificity of the NBT test in febrile, noninfected patients and provide further understanding of neutrophil physiology during acute inflammation.
Journal ArticleDOI
The p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase pathway plays a critical role in thrombin-induced endothelial chemokine production and leukocyte recruitment
Valérie Marin,Catherine Farnarier,Catherine Farnarier,Sandra Grès,Sandra Grès,Solange Kaplanski,Solange Kaplanski,Michael S.-S. Su,Michael S.-S. Su,Charles A. Dinarello,Charles A. Dinarello,Gilles Kaplanski,Gilles Kaplanski +12 more
TL;DR: The results demonstrate that the p38 rather than p42/44 MAPK signaling pathway plays an important role in thrombin-induced endothelial proinflammatory activation and suggest that inhibition of p38 MAPK may be an interesting target for anti-inflammatory strategies in vascular diseases combining thrombosis and inflammation.
