Induction of circulating soluble tumour necrosis factor receptor and interleukin 1 receptor antagonist following interleukin 1α infusion in humans
H Tilg,Elizabeth Trehu,Leland Shapiro,Dietrich Pape,Michael B. Atkins,Charles A. Dinarello,James W. Mier +6 more
TL;DR: IL-1 alpha and IL-1 beta levels were consistently below the threshold of detection of the RIAs employed in these studies, with the exception of a single time point in one of the four patients studied, TNF-alpha was undetectable in all plasma samples assayed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cytokine - Processing Enzymes: Stopping the cuts
TL;DR: The recently discovered enzymes that process the precursors of inflammatory cytokines are good targets for the design of new anti-inflammatory therapeutic agents.
Patent
Compositions and methods of use for alpha-1 antitrypsin having no significant serine protease inhibitor activity
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors illustrate methods and compositions for treating medical disorders, such as graft rejection, transplant rejection, or diabetes, in certain embodiments, which relate to reducing, inhibiting or treating graft rejection or transplant rejection in a subject.
Journal ArticleDOI
Short-term interleukin-37 treatment improves vascular endothelial function, endurance exercise capacity, and whole-body glucose metabolism in old mice.
Dov B. Ballak,Dov B. Ballak,Vienna E. Brunt,Zachary J Sapinsley,Brian P. Ziemba,James J Richey,Melanie C. Zigler,Lawrence C. Johnson,Rachel A. Gioscia-Ryan,Rachel Culp-Hill,Elan Z. Eisenmesser,Angelo D'Alessandro,Charles A. Dinarello,Charles A. Dinarello,Douglas R. Seals +14 more
TL;DR: Experimental support is provided for IL‐37 therapy as a novel strategy to improve diverse physiological functions in old age by altering metabolites related to pathways involved in NO synthesis and fatty acid metabolism.
Journal ArticleDOI
Protection from RNA and DNA viruses by IL-32.
Jarod A. Zepp,Claudia A. Nold-Petry,Claudia A. Nold-Petry,Charles A. Dinarello,Marcel F. Nold,Marcel F. Nold +5 more
TL;DR: A central role for IL-32 in the immune response to RNA and DNA viruses is suggested, which may be exploitable for clinical use in the future and unexpected part of the antiviral properties was not dependent on IFNs.
