Genetic mechanisms of critical illness in Covid-19.

Erola Pairo-Castineira, +1449 more
- 04 Mar 2021 -
TL;DR: The GenOMICC (Genetics Of Mortality In Critical Care) genome-wide association study in 2244 critically ill Covid-19 patients from 208 UK intensive care units is reported, finding evidence in support of a causal link from low expression of IFNAR2, and high expression of TYK2, to life-threatening disease.
Journal ArticleDOI

Serum KL-6 concentrations as a novel biomarker of severe COVID-19.

TL;DR: Increased KL‐6 serum concentrations were observed in patients with severe pulmonary involvement, revealing a prognostic value and supporting the potential usefulness of KL‐ 6 measurement to evaluate COVID‐19 patients' prognosis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Oxidant/Antioxidant Disequilibrium in Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis Pathogenesis.

TL;DR: The sources of free radical generation, ROS-induced signalling pathways and mechanisms of oxidative stress damages in the pathogenesis of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis are described.
Journal ArticleDOI

A first update on mapping the human genetic architecture of COVID-19

Gita A. Pathak, +822 more
- 04 Aug 2022 -
TL;DR: A genome-wide association study meta-analysis of up to 125,584 cases and over 2.5 million control individuals across 60 studies from 25 countries reveals compelling insights regarding disease susceptibility and severity.
