29 Sep 2000TL;DR: In this paper, a vane assembly for a turbine assembly includes an inner endcap, an outer endcap and a body, which includes a metallic core assembly, a ceramic shell assembly and a support assembly.
Abstract: A vane assembly for a turbine assembly includes an inner endcap, an outer endcap, and a body. The body includes a metallic core assembly, a ceramic shell assembly and a support assembly. The metallic core assembly is coupled to the inner and outer endcaps and bears most of the mechanical loads, including aerodynamic loads. The ceramic shell bears substantially all of the thermal stress placed on the vane assembly. The support assembly is disposed between the metallic core assembly and said ceramic shell assembly and is coupled to the metallic core assembly.

Abstract: Techniques for the determination of rotational and vibrational excitation cross sections of molecules by low-energy electrons are reviewed. The results of experiment are then compared with theory. High-energy resolution electron beam techniques are most useful for the measurement of the details of resonance-type, vibrational excitation cross sections. Cross section determinations from analyses of electron transport coefficients are most successful at energies near the threshold of vibrational excitation and for rotational excitation. High-frequency energy relaxation studies provide data on rotational excitation. A comparison of presently available experimental and theoretical results shows that some of the excitation processes, e.g., rotational excitation of ${\mathrm{N}}_{2}$ and CO and vibrational excitation of CO near threshold, are accurately described by the longest-range forces and Born approximation. In other cases, e.g., vibrational excitation of ${\mathrm{N}}_{2}$ and CO near 2 eV, the excitation is best described in terms of an electron resonance with the molecular potential.

04 Dec 1990TL;DR: In this paper, a two-pole monolithic ladder filter operating in the 1-1.5 GHz range has been demonstrated, which has a bandwidth of 30 MHz at 1 GHz and an insertion loss of about 1 dB.
Abstract: It is demonstrated that completely monolithic two-pole filters can be fabricated on silicon substrates using FBARs (film bulk acoustic resonators) and that these filters have low loss and reasonable bandwidth. A two-pole monolithic ladder filter operating in the 1-1.5 GHz range has been demonstrated. These filters (0.3*0.3*0.02 in) have a bandwidth of 30 MHz at 1 GHz and an insertion loss of about 1 dB. The small size serves to provide good shock and acceleration tolerance. Preliminary results on a stacked FBAR filter operated in high overtone mode show response up to 5.5 GHz. The authors review the development of FBAR technology, including piezoelectric film and membrane materials, fabrication techniques, temperature compensation schemes, and the progress made in processing monolithic filters. Issues relating to integration of FBARs with active circuits and IC processing compatibility are addressed. >

TL;DR: In this paper, the corrosion behavior of model Zr-based alloys at 500°C is assessed by long term (up to 400 days) corrosion testing in an effort to evaluate their potential for use in the supercritical water reactor and to assess the influence of alloying elements on corrosion behavior.
Abstract: Abstract The corrosion behavior of model Zr-based alloys at 500 °C is assessed by long term (up to 400 days) corrosion testing in an effort to evaluate their potential for use in the supercritical water reactor and to assess the influence of alloying elements on corrosion behavior. The corrosion weight gains from such systematic testing are seen to be a factor of five higher than those measured at 360 °C but the protectiveness ranking of the alloys is similar. Detailed characterization of the oxide layers to rationalize the differences in corrosion behavior was performed using synchrotron radiation and systematic differences are observed in protective and non-protective oxides, especially near the oxide–metal interface. The overall corrosion rate of the best Zr-based alloys compared favorably with those of other alloys being considered for use in the supercritical water reactor.
