24 Aug 2004TL;DR: In this article, the Griffiths formalism for constrained variational problems was used to extend the results of Khaneja, Brockett and Glaser for two-spin and three-spin NMR systems.
Abstract: Recent papers by Khaneja, Brockett and Glaser obtained efficient RF pulse trains for two-spin and three-spin NMR systems by finding sub-Riemannian geodesics on a quotient space of SU(4). This paper outlines a method for extending their results via the Griffiths formalism for constrained variational problems.

TL;DR: Investigating the impacts of gold mining on the Balochistan gerbil, a rodent that inhabits the natural environments of Saudi Arabia, demonstrates the accumulation of heavy metals in the soil, in Arabian boxthorn plants, and in the different tissues of the gerbils.
Abstract: Mining can impact the environment, biodiversity, and human health through direct and indirect practices. This study investigated the effects of gold mining on Gerbillus nanus, in relation to organ dysfunction and redox imbalance. Soil samples, Lycium shawii, and G. nanus were collected from a site near a mining plant, and a control site. Soil and L. shawii samples from the mining site showed significantly higher cadmium (Cd), copper (Cu), mercury (Hg), arsenic (As), zinc (Zn), lead (Pb), and vanadium (V) levels. Hepatic, renal, and pulmonary Cd, Pb, Hg, Zn, Cu, Fe, As, and V concentrations were significantly higher in G. nanus from the mining site. Markers of liver and kidney function were elevated in serum, and several histological manifestations were observed in the liver, kidney, and lung of G. nanus from the mining site. Malondialdehyde and nitric oxide levels increased, and glutathione and antioxidant enzymes decreased in the liver and kidney of G. nanus. In conclusion, mining practices trigger tissue damage and oxidative stress in G. nanus that live close to the mining site. These findings can represent a scientific basis for evaluating the environmental and health impacts of mining on nearby communities.

TL;DR: In this paper, a generic presentation of the large deflection, postbuckling and nonlinear flexural vibration behavior of antisymmetric angle-ply laminated plates is investigated, and a transformation between on-axis and off-axis stiffnesses is presented such that all the stiffnesses, including bending-stretching coupling, in the nonlinear governing equations of angle laminates can be expressed in terms of bounded global constants in orthotropic plates.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors presented the results obtained by simulating free 3D points and using the application developed by the authors for the purpose of this research, including the translational motion and rotary motion of the projectile as well as the stiffness of the material, the damping of material, friction at the points of contacting surfaces, viscous friction and plastic deformation.
Abstract: Materials used for the construction of ballistic shields are characterized by a variety of behaviours under the influence of external loads. Ballistic impact (by a bullet) in armour (ballistic shield) is an example of the phenomena that could be considered in the category of a dynamic load caused by the strike of the mass. Computer simulations are commonly used in such situations. It is especially important to adopt a proper model of the behaviour of the material. This paper presents the results obtained by simulating free 3D points and using the application developed by the authors for the purpose of this research. The made calculations include the translational motion and rotary motion of the projectile as well as the stiffness of the material, the damping of the material, friction at the points of contacting surfaces, viscous friction and plastic deformation (the material beyond the plastic yield point is perfectly plastic). The results of simulations were validated with experimental research.

TL;DR: In this article, the main part of the paper refers to a method of subsidiary companies' capital consolidation, by the acquisition method, Harmonized with the IFRS 3 Business Combinations.
Abstract: The emergence and need for making the consolidated calculations is a significant issue in a modern financial reporting. For the consolidation needs is important to determine theoretically a group of enterprises, in its narrower and broader sense, and connections among enterprises within a group. Adducting a collective balance weakness is necessary to point out to a necessity of the following elements elimination: internal share in capital and the capital, internal receivables and liabilities, internal inter-results and internal incomes and expenditures.
The main part of the paper refers to a method of subsidiary companies′ capital consolidation, by the acquisition method. Harmonized with the IFRS 3 Business Combinations were defined and also analysed the basic requirements for conduction of the acquisition method. There were also analysed the examples which refer to an initial consolidation and the consolidation termination.
