TL;DR: The results indicate the higher level of oxidative stress (oxidant–antioxidant imbalance) and possible relation of several markers with gender and disease stage in patients with Parkinson's disease.
Abstract: Background: Biomarkers of oxidative stress are relevant in the evaluation of the disease status and prooxidant–antioxidant balance, advanced oxidation protein products and lipid peroxidation products (malondialdehyde and 4-hydroxynonenal) are being extensively evaluated regarding their relationship with clinical presentation and disease severity.Aim of the study: The aim of this study was to evaluate the levels of the above-mentioned parameters in plasma of 39 men and 17 women with Parkinson's disease, originated from the Republic of Serbia and their relation to clinicopathological characteristics (gender, age at examination, duration of the disease, and Hoehn and Yahr score) and oxidative status. Results: The incidence of disease was 2:1 towards males. The investigated oxidative parameters were gender and Hoehn and Yahr related. Significant association of higher Hoehn and Yahr scores was observed for malondialdehyde (p = 0.01) and prooxidant–antioxidant balance (p = 0.02). Relation between oxidant...

TL;DR: In this paper, a degenerate model with dry friction was used to evaluate the potential energy consumption of a ballistic shield during its vibratory motion induced by a single pulse load, which was verified using a computer simulation technique for selected examples.
Abstract: In modern engineering materials used for creating effective ballistic shields, the issues of evaluation of their energy consumption are extremely important. The paper presents a new way of solving this problem using a certain degenerate model with dry friction. This method involves the use of specially derived identification equations which describe the decrease in potential energy of the system during its vibratory motion induced by a single pulse load. Analytical considerations have been verified using a computer simulation technique for selected examples.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present the implementation of the project for establishing Centres for Employment and Social Assistance in Bulgaria in the period 2015-2017 as a model of the provision of integrated employment and social assistance services aiming at increasing the efficiency of coordination and work in Employment Agency and social Assistance Agency and enhancing social inclusion.
Abstract: The article presents the implementation of the project for establishing Centres for Employment and Social Assistance in Bulgaria in the period 2015- 2017 as a model of the provision of integrated employment and social assistance services aiming at increasing the efficiency of coordination and work in Employment Agency and Social Assistance Agency and enhancing social inclusion. Services and provided support are analysed and conclusions and recommendations are drawn on the need of better evidence and data on their functioning so that to create reliable instruments for assessment of activities and outcomes.

TL;DR: The performance of an RF amplifier and digital modulation techniques in the presence of high-power electromagnetic interference (EMI) is presented to provide existing and next generation communication systems with critical information and suggests that nonconstant envelope digital modulation schemes are more susceptible to EMI.
Abstract: We present the performance of an RF amplifier and digital modulation techniques in the presence of high-power electromagnetic interference (EMI) to provide existing and next generation communication systems with critical information. An advanced measurement setup comprised of a large-signal network analyzer is used to characterize the adverse effects of EMI on the device characteristics of an RF power amplifier and the performance of digital modulation schemes. Furthermore, our analysis incorporated hybrid numerical tools, such as the hybrid S-parameter method to carry out an extensive EMI analysis of digital modulation schemes in the presence of complex structures, such as cylindrical cavities. Our studies yield critical information for the communication systems. For instance, our analysis suggests that digital modulation schemes are more susceptible to EMI than the RF power amplifier that processes the modulated signals. Power levels of the order of megawatts are required to have a notable impact on the device characteristics of an RF amplifier in the presence of a missile-like body, whereas, much lower power levels are sufficient to degrade the performance of a digital modulation scheme as long as it is within the bandwidth of the modulated signal. Our analysis further indicates that nonconstant envelope digital modulation schemes are more susceptible to EMI.
