Características agronômicas e qualidade fisiológica de sementes de cultivares de feijão adubados via foliar com cálcio e boro

Abstract: A research was carried out at Botucatu (SP), Brazil, with the objective of evaluating the influence of calcium and boron foliarly applied to the plants on productivity and physiological quality of seeds of two common bean cultivars. The experiment was set up according to a randomized complete block design, in a factorial arrangement of 2 x 4 and four replications, with treatments represented by common bean cultivars Perola and Campeao 2 and four doses of the foliar fertilizer (D – without application; D2 – .5 L ha- (5 g ha- Ca + 0.75 g ha- B); D3 – 3.0 L ha- (30 g ha- Ca + .5 g ha- B), and D4 – 4.5 L ha- (45 g ha- Ca + 2.25 g ha- B). The results showed that the foliar application of Ca + B improved yield of Perola and seed vigor of both bean cultivars. Über eine fluorometrische Bestimmung kleiner Mengen von Gallium

Abstract: Es wird eine Methode zur Bestimmung der in Mineralien, Wassern und Eisenmeteoriten enthaltenen Galliumspuren beschrieben. Das Gallium wird durch Messung der Fluoreszenzintensitat des in Chloroform aufgelosten Galliumcupferronat-Morin-Komplexes bestimmt. Die Ausschaltung eines grosen Uberschusses von Fremdionen erfolgt durch Ausatherung des Galliums aus salzsaurer Losung. Diese Analysenmethode ermoglicht es, 1 bis 6 μg Gallium in einem Mesvolumen von 6 ml Chloroform mit dem lichtelektrischen Fluorometer von Kipp en Zonen auf −6 bis −8% genau zu bestimmen, so das gegebenenfalls ein mittlerer Korrekturfaktor 1,075 angewendet werden kann.

Spatial characterization of Leptospira spp. infection in equids from the Brejo Paraibano micro-region in Brazil

Abstract: The present study, the first to spatially characterize Leptospira spp. infection among equids in the Brejo Paraibano micro-region of the Paraiba state in the northeast of Brazil, investigated 257 animals in 26 farms properties. Serum samples from 204 horses, 46 mules and seven donkeys were serologically diagnosed using the microscopic agglutination test (MAT). The distribution of Leptospira spp. was studied by employing specific antigens from 24 different Leptospira serovars. All farms were georeferenced and their distribution visualised on a map of the Brejo Paraibano micro-region. In addition, rainfall data were obtained from the same year, in which the sampling was performed. Among the 20 farms found to harbour animals with leptospirosis, 14 (70%) exhibited low prevalence, five (25%) medium prevalence and one (5%), high prevalence. Certain areas had a higher density of infected farms and required intervention to control the infection. Many serovars were widely distributed, while others were more common in particular areas. There was no significant association between the prevalence of Leptospira spp. infection and rainfall.
