TL;DR: The method proved to be efficient and robust, showing recoveries in the range 72–117%, and RSD ranging from 4.9 to 16.6% at fortification levels of 45, 90, 180, and 450 μg kg−1 with seven replicates analyzed for each level.
Abstract: In this work, a method was developed, validated, and applied to determination of ten pesticide residues (trifluralin, carbofuran, chlorothalonil, pendimethalin, captan, tebuconazole, pyraclostrobin, difenoconazole, deltamethrin, and azoxystrobin), from seven distinct classes, in carrot samples, employing a QuEChERS procedure for the analyte extraction and gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (GC-MS) for quantification. The dispersive clean-up step was optimized using different sorbents at different concentrations and mixings. The method proved to be efficient and robust, showing recoveries in the range 72–117%, and RSD ranging from 4.9 to 16.6% (except for chlorothalonil and captan) at fortification levels of 45, 90, 180, and 450 μg kg−1 with seven replicates analyzed for each level (n = 28). Chlorothalonil and captan could not be validated due to analyte stability problems. Detection limits were between 15 and 45 μg kg−1, and the quantification limits were between 45 and 90 μg kg−1. The method was successfully applied to real samples.

TL;DR: The first description of maternal genetic diversity in these horse breeds based on D-loop sequences is described, indicating that, to ensure conservation of these breeds, careful reproductive management is needed.
Abstract: The first horses were brought to Brazil by the colonizers after 1534. Over the centuries, these animals evolved and adapted to local environmental conditions usually unsuitable for exotic breeds, thereby originating locally adapted Brazilian breeds. The present work represents the first description of maternal genetic diversity in these horse breeds based on D-loop sequences. A D-Loop HSV-I fragment of 252 bp, from 141 horses belonging to ten Brazilian breeds / genetic groups (locally adapted and specialized breeds) were analysed. Thirty-five different haplotypes belonging to 18 haplogroups were identified with 33 polymorphic sites. Haplotype diversity (varying from 0.20 to 0.96) and nucleotide diversity (varying from 0.0039 to 0.0239) was lower for locally adapted than for specialized breeds, with the same pattern observed for FST values. Haplogroups identified in Brazilian breeds are in agreement with previous findings in South American samples. The low variability observed mainly in locally adapted breeds, indicates that, to ensure conservation of these breeds, careful reproductive management is needed. Additional genetic characterization studies are required to support accurate decision-making.

TL;DR: A simple and cheap system for pesticides removal was constructed and evaluated using water samples contaminated with two widely used herbicides (imazapic and imazethapyr, at g L-1 level), and operation parameters and process efficiency, in terms of removal rate in the reclaimed water and degradation rate of pesticides in the dry residue were quantitatively determined.

TL;DR: Early weaning did not affect performance and carcass characteristics of steers slaughtered at two years of age, and carcass traits such as fat thickness, conformation, "Hilton Quote" classification, and hot yield did not differ comparing EW with CW steers.

TL;DR: Genotype Brucella abortus strains isolated from cattle in Brazil between 2009 and 2013 were genotyped using a set of 18 variable number of tandem repeats (VNTR) (MLVA16+HOOF-Print 3 and 4).
