Measurement of quarkonium production in proton-lead and proton-proton collisions at 5.02 TeV with the ATLAS detector

Morad Aaboud, +2837 more
- 28 Feb 2018 -
- Vol. 78, Iss: 3, pp 171-171
TLDR
The production of excited charmonium and bottomonium states is found to be suppressed relative to that of the ground states in central p+Pb collisions and quarkonium differential cross sections are measured.
Abstract
The modification of the production of J/psi, psi(2S), and gamma (nS) (n = 1, 2, 3) in p+Pb collisions with respect to their production in pp collisions has been studied. The p+Pb and pp datasets us ...

Gluon Shadowing in Heavy-Flavor Production at the LHC

TL;DR: In this paper, the relevance of experimental data on heavy-flavor [${D}^{0}], $J/\ensuremath{\psi}$, $B\enuremath{rightarrow}J/Ensuremath{-}6} and $\mathrm{\ensureMath{\Upsilon}}(1S)$ mesons] production in proton-lead collisions at the LHC to improve our knowledge of the gluon-momentum distribution inside heavy nuclei.

Prompt and non-prompt J/ψ and ψ (2S) suppression at high transverse momentum in 5.02 TeV Pb+Pb collisions with the ATLAS experiment

Morad Aaboud, +2925 more
TL;DR: Despite prompt and non-prompt J/\psi and J/ψ arising from different mechanisms, the dependence of their nuclear modification factors on centrality is found to be quite similar.

Observation of Centrality-Dependent Acoplanarity for Muon Pairs Produced via Two-Photon Scattering in Pb+Pb Collisions at sNN =5.02 TeV with the ATLAS Detector

Morad Aaboud, +2927 more
TL;DR: This Letter presents a measurement of γγ→μ+}μ^{-} production in Pb+Pb collisions recorded by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV with an integrated luminosity of 0.49‬nb^{-1}.

Measurement of upsilon production in 7 TeV pp collisions at ATLAS

F. E. Taylor
TL;DR: In this paper, the production cross sections of Υ(1S,2S,3S) mesons are reconstructed using the dimuon decay mode. But the results of these reconstructions are not applicable to the full range of the Υ transverse momenta accessible with this data set.

A Brief Introduction to PYTHIA 8.1

TL;DR: PYTHIA 8 represents a complete rewrite in C++, and does not yet in every respect replace the old code, but does contain some new physics aspects that should make it an attractive option especially for LHC physics studies.

New generation of parton distributions with uncertainties from global QCD analysis

TL;DR: In this paper, a new generation of parton distribution functions with increased precision and quantitative estimates of uncertainties is presented, using a recently developed eigenvector-basis approach to the hessian method, which provides the means to quickly estimate the uncertainties of a wide range of physical processes at these high-energy hadron colliders, based on current knowledge of the parton distributions.
