SARS-CoV-2 Cell Entry Depends on ACE2 and TMPRSS2 and Is Blocked by a Clinically Proven Protease Inhibitor

TLDR
It is demonstrated that SARS-CoV-2 uses the SARS -CoV receptor ACE2 for entry and the serine protease TMPRSS2 for S protein priming, and it is shown that the sera from convalescent SARS patients cross-neutralized Sars-2-S-driven entry.

Omicron Variant (B.1.1.529): Infectivity, Vaccine Breakthrough, and Antibody Resistance

TL;DR: An artificial intelligence model, which has been trained with tens of thousands of experimental data and extensively validated by experimental results on SARS-CoV-2, reveals that Omicron may be over 10 times more contagious than the original virus or about 2.8 times as infectious as the Delta variant.

How COVID-19 induces cytokine storm with high mortality

TL;DR: It is hypothesize that IL-6-STAT3 signaling is a promising therapeutic target for the cytokine storm in COVID-19, because IL- 6 is a major STAT3 stimulator, particularly during inflammation.

Engineering human ACE2 to optimize binding to the spike protein of SARS coronavirus 2.

TL;DR: A variant of ACE2 based on deep mutagenesis far outcompetes the natural receptor in binding the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein and gives ACE2 variants with affinities that rival those of monoclonal antibodies.

Androgen-deprivation therapies for prostate cancer and risk of infection by SARS-CoV-2: a population-based study (N = 4532).

TL;DR: It is suggested that cancer patients have an increased risk of SARS-CoV-2 infections than non-cancer patients, however, prostate cancer patients receiving androgen-deprivation therapy (ADT) appear to be partially protected from Sars- CoV- 2 infections.

A Novel Coronavirus from Patients with Pneumonia in China, 2019.

TL;DR: Human airway epithelial cells were used to isolate a novel coronavirus, named 2019-nCoV, which formed a clade within the subgenus sarbecovirus, Orthocoronavirinae subfamily, which is the seventh member of the family of coronaviruses that infect humans.

A pneumonia outbreak associated with a new coronavirus of probable bat origin

TL;DR: Identification and characterization of a new coronavirus (2019-nCoV), which caused an epidemic of acute respiratory syndrome in humans in Wuhan, China, and it is shown that this virus belongs to the species of SARSr-CoV, indicates that the virus is related to a bat coronav virus.
