Abstract
During the past decade, design-based research has demonstrated its potential as a methodology suitable to both research and design of technology-enhanced learning environments (TELEs). In this paper, we define and identify characteristics of design-based research, describe the importance of design-based research for the development of TELEs, propose principles for implementing design-based research with TELEs, and discuss future challenges of using this methodology. Raising risk awareness and changing unsafe behavior on social network sites: a design based research in secondary education

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors apply a design-based research approach to develop effective e-safety interventions to teach children of secondary education (aged 12 to 19 years) how to behave safe on social network sites.

Leveraging autonomous pedagogical space for technology-transformed learning: a Singapore's perspective to sustaining educational reform within, across and beyond schools

TL;DR: Through a case study of an ICT prototype school in Singapore, it is hoped to demystify how the climate of increasing school autonomy can afford schools with common meta-language and pedagogical spaces to both tinker and sustain the use of mobile technologies for teaching and learning.

Soundscape Compositions for Art Classrooms

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors explored ways in which the process of listening, recording, and editing everyday soundscapes can be incorporated in the art classroom, which can deepen students' engagement with common environments by asking them to notice and creatively explore the sounds that define their daily experiences.

Collaboratively Learning to Teach STEM: A Model for Learning to Integrate STEM Education in Preservice Teacher Education

TL;DR: The Collaboratively Learning to Teach STEM (CLT-STEM) module as discussed by the authors was designed through a three-phase iterative process to provide learning experiences to preservice chemistry and secondary mathematics teachers.

Design Experiments: Theoretical and Methodological Challenges in Creating Complex Interventions in Classroom Settings

TL;DR: The lion's share of my current research program is devoted to the study of learning in the blooming, buzzing confusion of inner-city classrooms, and central to the enterprise is that the classroom must function smoothly as a learning environment before the authors can study anything other than the myriad possible ways that things can go wrong.

Design Experiments in Educational Research

TL;DR: Design experiments have both a pragmatic bent and a theoretical orientation as mentioned in this paper, developing domain-specific theories by systematically studying those forms of learning and the means of supporting them, and the authors clarify what is involved in preparing for and carrying out a design experiment, and conduct a retrospective analysis of the extensive, longitudinal data sets generated during an experiment.
