TLDR
In this paper, a sedimentological core and petrographic characterisation of samples from eleven boreholes from the Lower Carboniferous of Bowland Basin (Northwest England) is presented.
Abstract
Deposits of clastic carbonate-dominated (calciclastic) sedimentary slope systems in the rock record have been identified mostly as linearly-consistent carbonate apron deposits, even though most ancient clastic carbonate slope deposits fit the submarine fan systems better. Calciclastic submarine fans are consequently rarely described and are poorly understood. Subsequently, very little is known especially in mud-dominated calciclastic submarine fan systems. Presented in this study are a sedimentological core and petrographic characterisation of samples from eleven boreholes from the Lower Carboniferous of Bowland Basin (Northwest England) that reveals a >250 m thick calciturbidite complex deposited in a calciclastic submarine fan setting. Seven facies are recognised from core and thin section characterisation and are grouped into three carbonate turbidite sequences. They include: 1) Calciturbidites, comprising mostly of highto low-density, wavy-laminated bioclast-rich facies; 2) low-density densite mudstones which are characterised by planar laminated and unlaminated muddominated facies; and 3) Calcidebrites which are muddy or hyper-concentrated debrisflow deposits occurring as poorly-sorted, chaotic, mud-supported floatstones. Speaker normalization with all-pass transforms.

TL;DR: In this paper, a speaker normalization scheme was proposed by exploiting the fact that frequency domain transformations similar to that inherent in VTLN can be accomplished entirely in the cepstral domain through the use of conformal maps.

On the stress state dependence of the twinning rate and work hardening in twinning-induced plasticity steels

TL;DR: In this article, the influence of the stress state on the twinning rate and work hardening was studied in the case of an Fe-Mn-C TWIP steel strained in uniaxial tension, simple shear and rolling.

Instabilities in magnetized spherical Couette flow.

TL;DR: Three-dimensional numerical simulations of the flow of an electrically conducting fluid in a spherical shell when a magnetic field is applied show that instabilities arising from the presence of boundaries present striking similarities with the magnetorotational instability (MRI).

An Analysis of Island Models in Evolutionary Computation A dissertation submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy at George Mason University

TL;DR: This paper presents the main ideas and gathers preliminary results on the behavior of island models with regard to the amount of cooperation between islands, the level of heterogeneity and the difficulty of the problem being solved.

A review of the features and analyses of the solid electrolyte interphase in Li-ion batteries

TL;DR: The solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) is a protecting layer formed on the negative electrode of Li-ion batteries as a result of electrolyte decomposition, mainly during the first cycle as discussed by the authors.
