TLDR
In this paper, a sedimentological core and petrographic characterisation of samples from eleven boreholes from the Lower Carboniferous of Bowland Basin (Northwest England) is presented.
Abstract
Deposits of clastic carbonate-dominated (calciclastic) sedimentary slope systems in the rock record have been identified mostly as linearly-consistent carbonate apron deposits, even though most ancient clastic carbonate slope deposits fit the submarine fan systems better. Calciclastic submarine fans are consequently rarely described and are poorly understood. Subsequently, very little is known especially in mud-dominated calciclastic submarine fan systems. Presented in this study are a sedimentological core and petrographic characterisation of samples from eleven boreholes from the Lower Carboniferous of Bowland Basin (Northwest England) that reveals a >250 m thick calciturbidite complex deposited in a calciclastic submarine fan setting. Seven facies are recognised from core and thin section characterisation and are grouped into three carbonate turbidite sequences. They include: 1) Calciturbidites, comprising mostly of highto low-density, wavy-laminated bioclast-rich facies; 2) low-density densite mudstones which are characterised by planar laminated and unlaminated muddominated facies; and 3) Calcidebrites which are muddy or hyper-concentrated debrisflow deposits occurring as poorly-sorted, chaotic, mud-supported floatstones. Failure of classical traffic flow theories: Stochastic highway capacity and automatic driving

TL;DR: A deep connection is shown between the understanding of empirical stochastic highway capacity and a reliable analysis of automatic driving vehicles in traffic flow and the increase in the probability of traffic breakdown throughautomatic driving vehicles can be realized, even if any platoon of automaticdriving vehicles satisfies condition for string stability.

VASP on a GPU: Application to exact-exchange calculations of the stability of elemental boron

TL;DR: The results confirm the energetic preference for symmetry-breaking partial occupation of the β-rhombohedral structure at low temperatures, but does not resolve the stability of α relative to β, as an illustration of the capabilities of this implementation.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors measured the diffusion of rho and phi mesons at HERA with the H1 detector in the elastic and proton dissociative channels in the kinematic range of squared photon virtuality 2.5 < Q^2 < 60 GeV^2, photon-proton center of mass energy 35 < W < 180 GeV and squared four-momentum transfer to the proton |t| < 3 GeV|

Ontology-based Information Retrieval

TL;DR: This thesis presents methods for introducing ontologies in information retrieval, and appears that the fuzzy set model comprises the flexibility needed when generalizing to an ontology-based retrieval model and, with the introduction of a hierarchical fuzzy aggregation principle, compound concepts can be handled in a straightforward and natural manner.

A review of the features and analyses of the solid electrolyte interphase in Li-ion batteries

TL;DR: The solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) is a protecting layer formed on the negative electrode of Li-ion batteries as a result of electrolyte decomposition, mainly during the first cycle as discussed by the authors.
