TLDR
In this paper, a sedimentological core and petrographic characterisation of samples from eleven boreholes from the Lower Carboniferous of Bowland Basin (Northwest England) is presented.
Abstract
Deposits of clastic carbonate-dominated (calciclastic) sedimentary slope systems in the rock record have been identified mostly as linearly-consistent carbonate apron deposits, even though most ancient clastic carbonate slope deposits fit the submarine fan systems better. Calciclastic submarine fans are consequently rarely described and are poorly understood. Subsequently, very little is known especially in mud-dominated calciclastic submarine fan systems. Presented in this study are a sedimentological core and petrographic characterisation of samples from eleven boreholes from the Lower Carboniferous of Bowland Basin (Northwest England) that reveals a >250 m thick calciturbidite complex deposited in a calciclastic submarine fan setting. Seven facies are recognised from core and thin section characterisation and are grouped into three carbonate turbidite sequences. They include: 1) Calciturbidites, comprising mostly of highto low-density, wavy-laminated bioclast-rich facies; 2) low-density densite mudstones which are characterised by planar laminated and unlaminated muddominated facies; and 3) Calcidebrites which are muddy or hyper-concentrated debrisflow deposits occurring as poorly-sorted, chaotic, mud-supported floatstones. Optimal randomness certification in the quantum steering and prepare-and-measure scenarios

TL;DR: This work finds the optimal method to quantify the amount of local or global randomness that can be extracted in two scenarios: (i) the quantum steering scenario, where two parties measure a bipartite system in an unknown state but one of them does not trust his measurement apparatus, and (ii) the prepare-and-measure scenario, where additionally the quantum state is known.

Divergent precursors of the Mott-Hubbard transition at the two-particle level.

TL;DR: Dynamical mean-field calculations demonstrate that the first nonperturbative precursors of the Mott physics are unambiguously identified well inside the metallic regime by the divergence of the local Bethe-Salpeter equation in the charge channel.

Models for singularity categories

TL;DR: In this article, various models for singularity categories of modules over differential graded rings were constructed based on the connection between abelian model structures, cotorsion pairs and deconstructible classes.

Thixoforming of a high performance HP9/4/30 steel

TL;DR: In this paper, a high performance HP9/4/30 steel has been assessed for thixoformability through a direct remelting route, which was achieved at processing temperatures in the range of 1470-1480°C, which corresponds to approximately 50-80% liquid.

A review of the features and analyses of the solid electrolyte interphase in Li-ion batteries

TL;DR: The solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) is a protecting layer formed on the negative electrode of Li-ion batteries as a result of electrolyte decomposition, mainly during the first cycle as discussed by the authors.
