TL;DR: In this paper, a unique seven level five switch Inverter with different type of filters to reduce total harmonic distortion (THD) and suitable for renewable energy applications has been introduced.
Abstract: This paper introduces a unique seven level five switch Inverter with different type of filters to reduce total harmonic distortion (THD) and suitable for renewable energy applications. In conventional inverters output voltage and current waveforms are very far from the sinusoidal shape due to high percentage of THD. This type of distorted output voltage is not suitable for industrial drives and renewable energy based loads. Therefore the THD of output voltage from inverter is limited by replacing it with multi level inverter (MLI). As the levels of output waveform increases, it approaches the sinusoidal waveform, and its % THD is limited. However the semiconductor switches and dc sources required increases with increased complexity as the levels of MLI increase with different topologies. In this work, seven level MLI with five switches, four dc sources and using PWM technique has been implemented. Here by using phase disposition PWM (PDPWM) technique THD is reduced to a very low value and the modulated wave is nearly sine wave. Also for further reduction of THD different types of filters are used. The system model is simulated in MATLAB/SIMULINK toolbox to analyze the output waveforms.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a comparative analysis of various types of DC-DC converters using DC output voltage and the THD at the output side, in a standalone PV power system having the source and the load as two constants.
Abstract: This paper presents the comparative analysis of various types of DC-DC converters using DC output voltage and the THD at the output side. The analysis is made in a standalone PV power system having the source and the load as two constants. The analysis basically involves the Buck-Boost Converter, Buck Converter, Boost converter, Zeta converter, and the Cuk converter. The harmonics present in the VSC output and the output of the DC converter at the same input basically decides the power quality produced by using the particular converter.

TL;DR: In this paper, a separately excited DC (SEDC) motor is used to design a wind turbine emulator (WTE), and the parameters of PI controller installed in WTE are designed using artificial bee colony algorithm (ABC) algorithm.
Abstract: In purview of limitedly available conventional energy sources, wind energy is the need of the day. It is available in plenty and is free of pollution as well. The present wind energy conversion systems (WECSs) consisting of wind turbines (WTs) are doing exceptionally well. To design a more accurate WT and efficient WECS is attracting researchers from the last many years. Further, looking at the size and remote location of WECSs it is not feasible to experiment for variation in their on-site experiments. That’s why researchers are assuming WTs using motors in laboratories as wind turbine emulators (WTEs). So, it becomes an interesting problem to experiment a motor as WTE. In this paper, a separately excited DC (SEDC) motor is used to design a WTE. The parameters of PI controller installed in WTE are designed using artificial bee colony algorithm (ABC) algorithm. The ABC is selected as it is performing well to solve design optimization problems.

TL;DR: In this paper, a new modified approach of microstrip Ultra Wide Band (UWB) antenna having triple band characteristics is analyzed in this paper, the proposed antenna has the Split Ring Resonator (SRR) to have band stop features ranging 3.3-3.7 GHz, 5.1-5.8 GHz and 7.25-8.4 GHz to be used for WiMAX, WLAN and X band application respectively.
Abstract: A new modified approach of microstrip Ultra Wide Band (UWB) antenna having triple band characteristics is analyzed in this paper. The proposed antenna has the Split Ring Resonator (SRR) to have band stop features ranging 3.3 – 3.7 GHz , 5.1 – 5.8 GHz and 7.25- 8.4 GHz to be used for WiMAX ,WLAN and X band application respectively. In this paper SRR is used in distinct configuration to achieve band stopping features for distinct application bands. Simulation is done by using CAD tool HFSS version 13. The result obtained shows its suitability to be utilized for up/down link for satellite communication, WLAN, WiMAX and other X band application.
