01 Oct 2016TL;DR: It was found that turbine T7 produced maximum energy while T12 produced minimum energy during the two years period from July 2014 to June 2016, and it is also noticed that the energy production of the machines can be improved by increasing the system availability.
Abstract: This paper analyses the performance of a 7.2 MW wind farm having 12 turbines of Enercon E-40/6.44 model each having a rated capacity of 600kW situated at Harsnath hill near Sikar town of Rajasthan, India. The data of the last two years from July 2014 to June 2016 related to wind farm was collected from wind farm site. Using various parameters such as a) monthly energy production, b) wind turbine down time in hours, c) external grid/internal grid non-availability in hours, (i) machine availability, (ii) grid availability, (iii) system availability, (iv) annual usage time and (v) capacity factor were calculated. From the available data of energy production from December 2004 to June 2016, for each of the turbines, it was found that turbine T7 produced maximum energy while T12 produced minimum energy. During the two years period from July 2014 to June 2016, it is found that the highest energy production months are September in 2014 and August in 2015. It is also noticed that the energy production of the machines can be improved by increasing the system availability. By using statistical analysis and weibull distribution parameters, Chauhan and Saini predicted a capacity factor of 9.16% and energy prediction of 485 MWh/year. However, practical values obtained from the wind farm site are capacity factor of 22.08% and 22.60% and values of energy production are 1160.50 MWh and 1191 MWh in 2014–15 and 2015–16 respectively.

01 Nov 2016TL;DR: In this paper, Artificial Neural Network (ANN) based control algorithm for three phase three wire shunt active power filter (SAPF) to compensate harmonics and improve power quality is described.
Abstract: This work describes artificial neural network (ANN) based control algorithm for three phase three wire shunt active power filter (SAPF) to compensate harmonics and improve power quality. System consists of three phase insulated gate bipolar transistors IGBT based current controlled voltage source inverter (CC-VSI), series coupling inductor and self supported DC bus. Increasing application of non-linear loads causes power quality problem. SAPF is one of the possible configurations to improve power quality. Traditional SAPF have PLL based unit template generator for extraction of fundamental signal. Traditional PLL needs to be tuned to obtain optimal performance for frequency estimation. It requires initial assumptions for fundamental frequency and minimum frequency. With varying frequency, it can't be dynamically tuned for optimal performance. A new ANN based fundamental extraction based on Lavenberg Marquardt back propagation algorithm is proposed. Proposed SAPF is modelled in Simulink environment. Simulated results show the capability of proposed system.

01 Aug 2017TL;DR: In this article, the feasibility check of solar powered irrigation practice followed in Pipalda Kalan a village in Rajasthan near Kota has been done about the feasibility of a system is of utmost importance to install it and get the desired output in a more economic and better way.
Abstract: In today's scenario feasibility of a system is of utmost importance to install it and get the desired output in a more economic and better way In this study investigation has been done about the feasibility check of solar powered irrigation practice followed in Pipalda Kalan a village in Rajasthan near Kota To run a submersible pump and supply water to crop a photovoltaic based pump is used to utilize solar energy as the basic source of it Moreover, same rating pumps of 5 hp of solar as well as diesel have been considered for the economic analysis Various parameters like benefit cost ratio, net present worth and internal rate of return are considered for the economic analysis and comparison of the two system The comparison shows that the solar water pumping system was more feasible than the diesel-operated pump
