Social stigma and self-esteem: The self-protective properties of stigma.

TL;DR: In this article, it is proposed that members of stigmatized groups may attribute negative feedback to prejudice against their group, compare their outcomes with those of the ingroup, rather than with the relatively advantaged outgroup, and selectively devalue those dimensions on which their group fares poorly and value those dimensions that their group excels.

To Be Alone or in a Group: An Exploration Into How the School-Based Experiences Differ for Black Male Teachers Across One Urban School District:

TL;DR: One urban district administered the Black Male Teacher Environment Survey (BMTES) to each of its Black male teachers to measure their school-based experiences as mentioned in this paper, finding that participants were more likely to receive alternative certification, reported that their White colleagues had greater influence on school policy than teachers of color, believed that being Black caused people to fear them in their schools, and reported having a greater desire to leave their schools than Groupers.

Agenda Setting and African American Women in State Legislatures

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors explore the agenda-setting behavior of African American female state legislators and find that African American women do respond to both women's interests and black interests, and that while the sponsorship of black interest measures by black women (or other legislators) is not influenced by the proportion of African Americans within the chamber, black women are less likely to sponsor women's interest measures in legislatures with a relatively high proportion of women present.
