TLDR
Five miRNA binding site SNPs associated significantly with breast cancer risk are located in the 3′ UTR of CASP8, HDDC3, DROSHA, MUSTN1, and MYCL1, respectively, which belongs to miRNA machinery genes and has a central role in initial miRNA processing.

Quantitative proteomic analyses reveal that energy metabolism and protein biosynthesis reinitiation are responsible for the initiation of bolting induced by high temperature in lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.).

TL;DR: In this paper, the initiation of bolting in Lactuca sativa (L. sativa L) was investigated and the molecular mechanism underlying early bolting induced by high temperature remain largely elusive.

The potential of school-based WASH programming to support children as agents of change in rural Zambian households.

TL;DR: The authors conducted a quasi-experimental, prospective cohort study in 12 schools in rural, southern Zambia to measure the impact of WASH UP!, a school-based WASH program designed by the creators of Sesame Street.

Identification and characterization of a sulfite reductase gene and new insights regarding the sulfur-containing amino acid metabolism in the basidiomycetous yeast Cryptococcus neoformans

TL;DR: The identification of the MET5 and MET10 genes in the metabolic pathway of sulfur-containing amino acids in C. neoformans indicates the usefulness of this system in the development of screening tools for antifungal drug agents.

pTSara-NatB, an improved N-terminal acetylation system for recombinant protein expression in E. coli.

TL;DR: This work develops and characterize a bacterial N-terminal acetylation system based on the expression of the yeast N- terminal acetyltransferase B (NatB) complex under the control of the PBAD (L-arabinose-inducible) promoter.

Phytogeographical distribution of roadside flora along the plain to mountainous natural areas (Northern Khorasan Province, Iran)

TL;DR: In this paper, the roadside flora of the Irano-Turanian rangelands was studied in the northeast of Iran, along about 600 km of asphalt road, in a stratified random design, 38 sites on 12 asphalt roads were sampled, and 330 plant taxa of different chorotypes were identified.

Global cancer statistics

TL;DR: A substantial proportion of the worldwide burden of cancer could be prevented through the application of existing cancer control knowledge and by implementing programs for tobacco control, vaccination, and early detection and treatment, as well as public health campaigns promoting physical activity and a healthier dietary intake.

Conserved seed pairing, often flanked by adenosines, indicates that thousands of human genes are microRNA targets

TL;DR: In a four-genome analysis of 3' UTRs, approximately 13,000 regulatory relationships were detected above the estimate of false-positive predictions, thereby implicating as miRNA targets more than 5300 human genes, which represented 30% of the gene set.

Comprehensive molecular portraits of human breast tumours

Daniel C. Koboldt, +355 more
- 04 Oct 2012 -
TL;DR: The ability to integrate information across platforms provided key insights into previously defined gene expression subtypes and demonstrated the existence of four main breast cancer classes when combining data from five platforms, each of which shows significant molecular heterogeneity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Most mammalian mRNAs are conserved targets of microRNAs

TL;DR: This work overhauled its tool for finding preferential conservation of sequence motifs and applied it to the analysis of human 3'UTRs, increasing by nearly threefold the detected number of preferentially conserved miRNA target sites.
