TLDR
Five miRNA binding site SNPs associated significantly with breast cancer risk are located in the 3′ UTR of CASP8, HDDC3, DROSHA, MUSTN1, and MYCL1, respectively, which belongs to miRNA machinery genes and has a central role in initial miRNA processing.

Creating Scaffolds for 3D Neuronal Tissue Models

C. Bouyer, +1 more
- 01 Nov 2017 -
TL;DR: This work has shown that in the field of neuronal 3D constructs fabrication, where ex-vivo samples are difficult to get, different strategies have been developed going from rat neurons culture to embryonic stem cells culture and differentiation into neurons after their encapsulation in 3D scaffolds.

From "satisfaction of search" to "subsequent search misses": a review of multiple-target search errors across radiology and cognitive science.

TL;DR: The subsequent search miss (SSM) effect has been studied in both radiology and cognitive science as discussed by the authors, and the current SSM theories (i.e., satisfaction, perceptual set, and resource depletion theories), the eye movement errors that underlie the SSM effect, the existing efforts tested to alleviate SSM errors, and the evolution of methodologies and analyses used when calculating the SSMs effect.

Soil erosion-reducing efficiency of litter cover varies with litter shape and coverage in a desert ecosystem

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the soil erosion-reducing efficiency of different types of litter, litter-covered sites of Populus simonii (LPS), Caragana korshinskii (LCK) and Bothriochloa ischaemum (LBI), respectively, and bare sandy land (BSL) was taken as a control.

Global cancer statistics

TL;DR: A substantial proportion of the worldwide burden of cancer could be prevented through the application of existing cancer control knowledge and by implementing programs for tobacco control, vaccination, and early detection and treatment, as well as public health campaigns promoting physical activity and a healthier dietary intake.

Conserved seed pairing, often flanked by adenosines, indicates that thousands of human genes are microRNA targets

TL;DR: In a four-genome analysis of 3' UTRs, approximately 13,000 regulatory relationships were detected above the estimate of false-positive predictions, thereby implicating as miRNA targets more than 5300 human genes, which represented 30% of the gene set.

Comprehensive molecular portraits of human breast tumours

Daniel C. Koboldt, +355 more
- 04 Oct 2012 -
TL;DR: The ability to integrate information across platforms provided key insights into previously defined gene expression subtypes and demonstrated the existence of four main breast cancer classes when combining data from five platforms, each of which shows significant molecular heterogeneity.

Most mammalian mRNAs are conserved targets of microRNAs

TL;DR: This work overhauled its tool for finding preferential conservation of sequence motifs and applied it to the analysis of human 3'UTRs, increasing by nearly threefold the detected number of preferentially conserved miRNA target sites.
