TLDR
Five miRNA binding site SNPs associated significantly with breast cancer risk are located in the 3′ UTR of CASP8, HDDC3, DROSHA, MUSTN1, and MYCL1, respectively, which belongs to miRNA machinery genes and has a central role in initial miRNA processing.

Promoting effect of zirconium oxide on Cu–Al2O3 catalyst for the hydrogenolysis of glycerol to 1,2-propanediol

TL;DR: In this article, ZrO2-promoted Cu-Al2O3 catalysts were used for the hydrogenolysis of glycerol to 1,2-propanediol in a fixed-bed reactor.

Entomopathogenic Fusarium species: a review of their potential for the biological control of insects, implications and prospects

TL;DR: A survey of peer-reviewed papers published from 2000 to 2019 shows the widespread pathogenicity of Fusarium to insects, demonstrating the features of interest for insect control as well as the advantages and implications of this practice.

Wear simulation of total knee prostheses using load and kinematics waveforms from stair climbing

TL;DR: It is confirmed that the results from wear simulation machines are strongly affected by kinematics and loads applied during simulations, and a more comprehensive series of conditions are necessary for equivalent simulations in vitro.

The anti-proliferative effect of apricot and peach kernel extracts on human colon cancer cells in vitro.

TL;DR: Abrogation of the block by exhaustion of the cyanide production, most likely allowed the cells to resume the cell cycle and continue into mitosis, whereas low ATP levels caused by the presence of amygdalin in the kernels, can also cause the induction of pycnosis or necrosis.

Controlling Dactylopius opuntiae with Fusarium incarnatum–equiseti species complex and extracts of Ricinus communis and Poincianella pyramidalis

TL;DR: Results indicate FIESC 20-b isolates and extracts of R. communis and P. pyramidalis are promising control agents for D. opuntiae, a low-cost technology and environmentally friendly.

Global cancer statistics

TL;DR: A substantial proportion of the worldwide burden of cancer could be prevented through the application of existing cancer control knowledge and by implementing programs for tobacco control, vaccination, and early detection and treatment, as well as public health campaigns promoting physical activity and a healthier dietary intake.

Conserved seed pairing, often flanked by adenosines, indicates that thousands of human genes are microRNA targets

TL;DR: In a four-genome analysis of 3' UTRs, approximately 13,000 regulatory relationships were detected above the estimate of false-positive predictions, thereby implicating as miRNA targets more than 5300 human genes, which represented 30% of the gene set.

Comprehensive molecular portraits of human breast tumours

Daniel C. Koboldt, +355 more
- 04 Oct 2012 -
TL;DR: The ability to integrate information across platforms provided key insights into previously defined gene expression subtypes and demonstrated the existence of four main breast cancer classes when combining data from five platforms, each of which shows significant molecular heterogeneity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Most mammalian mRNAs are conserved targets of microRNAs

TL;DR: This work overhauled its tool for finding preferential conservation of sequence motifs and applied it to the analysis of human 3'UTRs, increasing by nearly threefold the detected number of preferentially conserved miRNA target sites.
