TLDR
Five miRNA binding site SNPs associated significantly with breast cancer risk are located in the 3′ UTR of CASP8, HDDC3, DROSHA, MUSTN1, and MYCL1, respectively, which belongs to miRNA machinery genes and has a central role in initial miRNA processing.

Prediction of soil attributes using the Chinese soil spectral library and standardized spectra recorded at field conditions.

TL;DR: Wang et al. as mentioned in this paper used the Chinese soil spectral library (CSSL) of dry ground soils to predict organic matter (OM), total nitrogen (TN), and pH of paddy soils in the Yangtze River Delta, after removing the influences of the environmental factors with direct standardization.
Journal ArticleDOI

Use of capillary Western immunoassay (Wes) for quantification of dystrophin levels in skeletal muscle of healthy controls and individuals with Becker and Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

TL;DR: The ProteinSimple capillary immunoassay (Wes) method is demonstrated to be a suitable, efficient and reliable method for quantification of dystrophin expression as a biomarker in DMD clinical drug development.

Sequential bioethanol and biogas production from sugarcane bagasse based on high solids fed-batch SSF

TL;DR: In this article, a high-solids fed-batch SSF (simultaneous saccharification and fermentation) process with delayed inoculation (DSSF) was used for biofuel (bioethanol and biogas) production.

SIAN: software for structural identifiability analysis of ODE models.

TL;DR: A new software SIAN (Structural Identifiability ANalyser) that can tackle problems that could not be tackled by previously developed packages is presented.

Aptamer-functionalized stir bar sorptive extraction coupled with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry for selective enrichment and determination of polychlorinated biphenyls in fish samples.

TL;DR: The Apt-MOF SBSE pretreatment coupled with GC-MS exhibited high selectivity, good binding capacity, stability and reproducibility for the detection of PCBs, and opens up the possibility of selective enrichment of a given target PCBs from complex fish samples.

Global cancer statistics

TL;DR: A substantial proportion of the worldwide burden of cancer could be prevented through the application of existing cancer control knowledge and by implementing programs for tobacco control, vaccination, and early detection and treatment, as well as public health campaigns promoting physical activity and a healthier dietary intake.

Conserved seed pairing, often flanked by adenosines, indicates that thousands of human genes are microRNA targets

TL;DR: In a four-genome analysis of 3' UTRs, approximately 13,000 regulatory relationships were detected above the estimate of false-positive predictions, thereby implicating as miRNA targets more than 5300 human genes, which represented 30% of the gene set.

Comprehensive molecular portraits of human breast tumours

Daniel C. Koboldt, +355 more
- 04 Oct 2012 -
TL;DR: The ability to integrate information across platforms provided key insights into previously defined gene expression subtypes and demonstrated the existence of four main breast cancer classes when combining data from five platforms, each of which shows significant molecular heterogeneity.

Most mammalian mRNAs are conserved targets of microRNAs

TL;DR: This work overhauled its tool for finding preferential conservation of sequence motifs and applied it to the analysis of human 3'UTRs, increasing by nearly threefold the detected number of preferentially conserved miRNA target sites.
