TLDR
Five miRNA binding site SNPs associated significantly with breast cancer risk are located in the 3′ UTR of CASP8, HDDC3, DROSHA, MUSTN1, and MYCL1, respectively, which belongs to miRNA machinery genes and has a central role in initial miRNA processing.

Recent coating developments for combination devices in orthopedic and dental applications: A literature review.

TL;DR: The ideal coating remains an unrealized target, but that advances in the field and emerging technologies are bringing it closer to reality, and a level of optimism that many functional combination coatings will ultimately transition into clinical practice, significantly improving patient outcomes is provided.

FDA Benchmark Medical Device Flow Models for CFD Validation.

TL;DR: The primary goal of this article is to summarize the FDA initiative and to report recent findings from the benchmark blood pump model study, which aided the development of an FDA Guidance Document on factors to consider when reporting computational studies in medical device regulatory submissions.

Over-expression of a NAC 67 transcription factor from finger millet ( Eleusine coracana L.) confers tolerance against salinity and drought stress in rice

TL;DR: Results indicate that EcNAC67 can be used as a novel source for engineering tolerance against drought and salinity stress in rice and other crop plants.

Single-molecule sequencing and Hi-C-based proximity-guided assembly of amaranth (Amaranthus hypochondriacus) chromosomes provide insights into genome evolution.

TL;DR: The assembly method reported here minimizes cost by relying primarily on short-read technology and is one of the first reported uses of in vivo Hi-C for assembly of a plant genome.

The MARINA model (Model to Assess River Inputs of Nutrients to seAs): Model description and results for China.

TL;DR: A model to assess River Inputs of Nutrients to seAs (MARINA) for China quantifies the main sources of coastal water pollution for sub-basins and can contribute to formulation of effective management options to reduce nutrient pollution of Chinese seas in the future.

Global cancer statistics

TL;DR: A substantial proportion of the worldwide burden of cancer could be prevented through the application of existing cancer control knowledge and by implementing programs for tobacco control, vaccination, and early detection and treatment, as well as public health campaigns promoting physical activity and a healthier dietary intake.

Conserved seed pairing, often flanked by adenosines, indicates that thousands of human genes are microRNA targets

TL;DR: In a four-genome analysis of 3' UTRs, approximately 13,000 regulatory relationships were detected above the estimate of false-positive predictions, thereby implicating as miRNA targets more than 5300 human genes, which represented 30% of the gene set.

Comprehensive molecular portraits of human breast tumours

Daniel C. Koboldt, +355 more
- 04 Oct 2012 -
TL;DR: The ability to integrate information across platforms provided key insights into previously defined gene expression subtypes and demonstrated the existence of four main breast cancer classes when combining data from five platforms, each of which shows significant molecular heterogeneity.

Most mammalian mRNAs are conserved targets of microRNAs

TL;DR: This work overhauled its tool for finding preferential conservation of sequence motifs and applied it to the analysis of human 3'UTRs, increasing by nearly threefold the detected number of preferentially conserved miRNA target sites.
