TLDR
Five miRNA binding site SNPs associated significantly with breast cancer risk are located in the 3′ UTR of CASP8, HDDC3, DROSHA, MUSTN1, and MYCL1, respectively, which belongs to miRNA machinery genes and has a central role in initial miRNA processing.

The Team Surviving Orienteers problem: routing teams of robots in uncertain environments with survival constraints

TL;DR: This work proposes an approximate greedy approach for selecting paths, and proves that the value of its output is within a factor of the optimum of the per-robot survival probability threshold of the Team Surviving Orienteers (TSO) problem.

Evidence for nitrification ability controlling nitrogen use efficiency and N losses via denitrification in paddy soils

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of nitrification ability on nitrogen (N) use efficiency and N losses via denitrification in paddy soils under flooding conditions, six paddy soil with different nitrification activities were sampled from various sites of China and a pot experiment was conducted.

Do individual differences in need strength moderate the relations between basic psychological need satisfaction and organizational citizenship behavior

TL;DR: For instance, this paper found that need satisfaction was positively associated with organizational citizenship behavior through work engagement, but only found minor evidence for a moderating role of need strength in the workplace.

Stormwater ponds as habitat for Odonata in urban areas: the importance of obligate wetland plant species

TL;DR: In this paper, the significance of stormwater ponds as attractive habitats for the adult stages of Odonata (dragonflies and damselflies), widely considered bioindicators of aquatic and wetland ecosystem health, was determined.
Journal ArticleDOI

Protein tyrosine kinase 2: a novel therapeutic target to overcome acquired EGFR-TKI resistance in non-small cell lung cancer.

TL;DR: The study result suggests that this combination therapy may be a viable option to overcome EGFR-TKI resistance in NSCLC and improved in vivo therapeutic efficacy compared to the single-agent treatments.

Global cancer statistics

TL;DR: A substantial proportion of the worldwide burden of cancer could be prevented through the application of existing cancer control knowledge and by implementing programs for tobacco control, vaccination, and early detection and treatment, as well as public health campaigns promoting physical activity and a healthier dietary intake.

Conserved seed pairing, often flanked by adenosines, indicates that thousands of human genes are microRNA targets

TL;DR: In a four-genome analysis of 3' UTRs, approximately 13,000 regulatory relationships were detected above the estimate of false-positive predictions, thereby implicating as miRNA targets more than 5300 human genes, which represented 30% of the gene set.

Comprehensive molecular portraits of human breast tumours

Daniel C. Koboldt, +355 more
- 04 Oct 2012 -
TL;DR: The ability to integrate information across platforms provided key insights into previously defined gene expression subtypes and demonstrated the existence of four main breast cancer classes when combining data from five platforms, each of which shows significant molecular heterogeneity.

Most mammalian mRNAs are conserved targets of microRNAs

TL;DR: This work overhauled its tool for finding preferential conservation of sequence motifs and applied it to the analysis of human 3'UTRs, increasing by nearly threefold the detected number of preferentially conserved miRNA target sites.
