TLDR
Five miRNA binding site SNPs associated significantly with breast cancer risk are located in the 3′ UTR of CASP8, HDDC3, DROSHA, MUSTN1, and MYCL1, respectively, which belongs to miRNA machinery genes and has a central role in initial miRNA processing.

Genetic variants in genes related to inflammation, apoptosis and autophagy in breast cancer risk.

TL;DR: A population-based breast cancer study of women of European and East Asian descent found evidence for an association among East Asians for rs1800925 (IL-13) and breast cancer risk and found evidence of an interaction between rs7874234 (TSC1) and physical activity among women of EastAsian descent.

A Modular Folded Laminate Robot Capable of Multi Modal Locomotion

TL;DR: In this paper, fundamental principles for two-dimensional pattern design of folded robots, specifically mobile robots consisting of closed-loop kinematic linkage mechanisms, are described, and three fundamental methods for designing closed-chain folded four-bar linkages are introduced.

Shape effect on MHD flow of time fractional Ferro-Brinkman type nanofluid with ramped heating.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors considered the MHD flow of water-based Ferro-nanofluid in the presence of thermal radiation, heat generation, and nanoparticle shape effect.

AKT as Locus of Cancer Phenotype

TL;DR: Cancer robustness is generated by the positive feedback loops, which hyperactivate AKT locus forming a cancer phenotype in leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, plasmocytoma, sarcoma and carcinoma and induce conversion of thepositive feedback loops and disappearance of the malignant phenotype.

Elevated CO2 induces age-dependent restoration of growth and metabolism in gibberellin-deficient plants

TL;DR: It is shown that elevated [CO2] enhances growth only within a narrow developmental window, in which GA biosynthesis is dispensable, which could be relevant for breeding crops in the face of the expected increases in atmospheric CO2 over the next century.

Global cancer statistics

TL;DR: A substantial proportion of the worldwide burden of cancer could be prevented through the application of existing cancer control knowledge and by implementing programs for tobacco control, vaccination, and early detection and treatment, as well as public health campaigns promoting physical activity and a healthier dietary intake.

Conserved seed pairing, often flanked by adenosines, indicates that thousands of human genes are microRNA targets

TL;DR: In a four-genome analysis of 3' UTRs, approximately 13,000 regulatory relationships were detected above the estimate of false-positive predictions, thereby implicating as miRNA targets more than 5300 human genes, which represented 30% of the gene set.

Comprehensive molecular portraits of human breast tumours

Daniel C. Koboldt, +355 more
- 04 Oct 2012 -
TL;DR: The ability to integrate information across platforms provided key insights into previously defined gene expression subtypes and demonstrated the existence of four main breast cancer classes when combining data from five platforms, each of which shows significant molecular heterogeneity.

Most mammalian mRNAs are conserved targets of microRNAs

TL;DR: This work overhauled its tool for finding preferential conservation of sequence motifs and applied it to the analysis of human 3'UTRs, increasing by nearly threefold the detected number of preferentially conserved miRNA target sites.
