TLDR
Five miRNA binding site SNPs associated significantly with breast cancer risk are located in the 3′ UTR of CASP8, HDDC3, DROSHA, MUSTN1, and MYCL1, respectively, which belongs to miRNA machinery genes and has a central role in initial miRNA processing.

Toxoplasma gondii isolated from a Brazilian patient with rare pulmonary toxoplasmosis has a novel genotype and is closely related to Amazonian isolates.

TL;DR: In this paper, a Toxoplasma gondii strain isolated in Brazil from an immunocompetent patient who had severe pulmonary involvement was biologically and molecularly characterized for the first time.

3D local directional patterns for early diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease

TL;DR: By concatenating three individual histograms extracted from three segmented sub-regions of grey matter, the accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity of the proposed 3D-LDP method were obtained as 81, 84, and 79%, respectively, comparable or even better than those of the existing 3d-LTP method.

Can belly dance and mat Pilates be effective for range of motion, self-esteem, and depressive symptoms of breast cancer women?

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of an intervention with belly dance or mat Pilates on range of motion, self-esteem and depressive symptoms in women with breast cancer receiving hormone therapy was analyzed.

Estimation of Mean in Double Sampling Using Exponential Technique on Multi-auxiliary Variates

TL;DR: In this article, the authors presented exponential-type ratio and product estimators for a finite population mean in double sampling using information on several auxiliary variates, which can be viewed as a generalization over the estimators suggested by Singh and Vishwakarma.
Journal ArticleDOI

Development of an automated flow-based spectrophotometric immunoassay for continuous detection of zearalenone.

TL;DR: An immunoassay using a continuous flow system for the detection of zearalenone (ZEN) showed 50 times reusability of the immobilized antibodies without affecting the antigen binding properties and was robust and reliable.

Global cancer statistics

TL;DR: A substantial proportion of the worldwide burden of cancer could be prevented through the application of existing cancer control knowledge and by implementing programs for tobacco control, vaccination, and early detection and treatment, as well as public health campaigns promoting physical activity and a healthier dietary intake.

Conserved seed pairing, often flanked by adenosines, indicates that thousands of human genes are microRNA targets

TL;DR: In a four-genome analysis of 3' UTRs, approximately 13,000 regulatory relationships were detected above the estimate of false-positive predictions, thereby implicating as miRNA targets more than 5300 human genes, which represented 30% of the gene set.

Comprehensive molecular portraits of human breast tumours

Daniel C. Koboldt, +355 more
- 04 Oct 2012 -
TL;DR: The ability to integrate information across platforms provided key insights into previously defined gene expression subtypes and demonstrated the existence of four main breast cancer classes when combining data from five platforms, each of which shows significant molecular heterogeneity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Most mammalian mRNAs are conserved targets of microRNAs

TL;DR: This work overhauled its tool for finding preferential conservation of sequence motifs and applied it to the analysis of human 3'UTRs, increasing by nearly threefold the detected number of preferentially conserved miRNA target sites.
