TLDR
Five miRNA binding site SNPs associated significantly with breast cancer risk are located in the 3′ UTR of CASP8, HDDC3, DROSHA, MUSTN1, and MYCL1, respectively, which belongs to miRNA machinery genes and has a central role in initial miRNA processing.

Introgression, Generational Expression and Salinity Tolerance Conferred by the Pea DNA Helicase 45 Transgene into Two Commercial Rice Genotypes, BR28 and BR47

TL;DR: Stability of transgene expression across generations is shown and it is demonstrated that there may be an effect of background genotype on transgenes expression, and some downstream effects of the transGene may also be genotype-specific.

Circular Dichroism and Isothermal Titration Calorimetry to Study the Interaction of α-Synuclein with Membranes.

TL;DR: This protocol describes the preparation of small unilamellar vesicles (SUVs), mimicking the curved bilayers α- synuclein normally interacts with, the CD-monitored titration of α-synuclein with SUVs, the ITC (lipid-into-protein) experiment, and the subsequent data analysis using an n independent binding site model.

MESH1 knockdown triggers proliferation arrest through TAZ repression

TL;DR: In this article , the authors found that MESH1 expression tended to be higher in tumors and associated with poor patient outcomes, including proliferation arrest, reduced sphere formation, tumor growth inhibition, dNTP depletion, and transcriptional changes.

Modification of polystyrene maleic anhydride for efficient energy storage applications

TL;DR: In this article, a modified styrene maleic anhydride (SMA) copolymer with two different moieties, i.e. 2-amino-5-mercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole (AMT) and 4-4-diaminodiphenylmethane (DDM), is presented.

Regional abnormality of functional connectivity is associated with clinical manifestations in individuals with intractable focal epilepsy.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors explored regional functional connectivity alterations in intractable focal epilepsy brains using resting-state functional MRI and found that abnormal regions for each patient tended to have functional connections with each other (mean ± SD = 58.6 ± 20.2%).

Global cancer statistics

TL;DR: A substantial proportion of the worldwide burden of cancer could be prevented through the application of existing cancer control knowledge and by implementing programs for tobacco control, vaccination, and early detection and treatment, as well as public health campaigns promoting physical activity and a healthier dietary intake.

Conserved seed pairing, often flanked by adenosines, indicates that thousands of human genes are microRNA targets

TL;DR: In a four-genome analysis of 3' UTRs, approximately 13,000 regulatory relationships were detected above the estimate of false-positive predictions, thereby implicating as miRNA targets more than 5300 human genes, which represented 30% of the gene set.

TL;DR: The ability to integrate information across platforms provided key insights into previously defined gene expression subtypes and demonstrated the existence of four main breast cancer classes when combining data from five platforms, each of which shows significant molecular heterogeneity.

Most mammalian mRNAs are conserved targets of microRNAs

TL;DR: This work overhauled its tool for finding preferential conservation of sequence motifs and applied it to the analysis of human 3'UTRs, increasing by nearly threefold the detected number of preferentially conserved miRNA target sites.
