TLDR
Five miRNA binding site SNPs associated significantly with breast cancer risk are located in the 3′ UTR of CASP8, HDDC3, DROSHA, MUSTN1, and MYCL1, respectively, which belongs to miRNA machinery genes and has a central role in initial miRNA processing.

Continuous-cover forestry maintains soil fungal communities in Norway spruce dominated boreal forests

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors conducted a comprehensive study to assess the impact of continuous-cover and clear-felling on soil fungi and chemical properties within Norway spruce dominated forests, using unmanaged forest as a control.

Enhanced bioremediation of diesel oil-contaminated seawater by a biochar-immobilized biosurfactant-producing bacteria Vibrio sp. LQ2 isolated from cold seep sediment.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the effect of immobilized biosurfactant-producing bacteria (LQ2) on the bioremediation of diesel oil-contaminated seawater and found that the inoculation of biochar-immobilized LQ2 demonstrated superior efficiency in removing diesel oil (94.7%, reduction from 169.2 mg to 8.91 mg) over a seven-day period compared to free-cell culture (54.4%).

New markers of natural and anthropogenic chemical alteration of archaeological lignin revealed by in situ pyrolysis/silylation-gas chromatographymass spectrometry

TL;DR: In this article, pyrolytic patterns were obtained for the archaeological samples investigated, which were mainly characterised by the presence of oxidised compounds such as vanillin, acetovanillone, vanillic acid, syringaldehyde, acetosyringone, and syringic acid.

RNA sequencing analysis of Cymbidium goeringii identifies floral scent biosynthesis related genes

TL;DR: RNA-seq and DEG data provided comprehensive gene expression information at the transcriptional level that could be facilitate the molecular mechanisms of floral biosynthesis pathways in three developmental phase’s flowers in Cymbidium goeringii, moreover providing useful information for further analysis on C. goeredii, and other plants of genus Cymbium.

Green Tea Polyphenols Mitigate Gliadin-Mediated Inflammation and Permeability in Vitro

TL;DR: There are potential beneficial effects of GTE as an adjuvant therapy for celiac disease through direct interaction between gliadin proteins and green tea polyphenols.

Global cancer statistics

TL;DR: A substantial proportion of the worldwide burden of cancer could be prevented through the application of existing cancer control knowledge and by implementing programs for tobacco control, vaccination, and early detection and treatment, as well as public health campaigns promoting physical activity and a healthier dietary intake.

Conserved seed pairing, often flanked by adenosines, indicates that thousands of human genes are microRNA targets

TL;DR: In a four-genome analysis of 3' UTRs, approximately 13,000 regulatory relationships were detected above the estimate of false-positive predictions, thereby implicating as miRNA targets more than 5300 human genes, which represented 30% of the gene set.

Comprehensive molecular portraits of human breast tumours

Daniel C. Koboldt, +355 more
- 04 Oct 2012 -
TL;DR: The ability to integrate information across platforms provided key insights into previously defined gene expression subtypes and demonstrated the existence of four main breast cancer classes when combining data from five platforms, each of which shows significant molecular heterogeneity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Most mammalian mRNAs are conserved targets of microRNAs

TL;DR: This work overhauled its tool for finding preferential conservation of sequence motifs and applied it to the analysis of human 3'UTRs, increasing by nearly threefold the detected number of preferentially conserved miRNA target sites.
