TLDR
Five miRNA binding site SNPs associated significantly with breast cancer risk are located in the 3′ UTR of CASP8, HDDC3, DROSHA, MUSTN1, and MYCL1, respectively, which belongs to miRNA machinery genes and has a central role in initial miRNA processing.

An Overview of the Use of Dental Stem Cells and Polycaprolactone Scaffolds in Tissue Engineering

TL;DR: In this article, the authors review the types of dental stem cells, techniques in producing polycaprolactone scaffolds, and different tissue engineering applications involving dental stem cell and polycaproactone.

Surface runoff in two rehabilitation periods of a bauxite mine

TL;DR: In this paper, the physical and environmental factors which interfere with runoff were characterized in both periods and subjected to principal component analysis (PCA) to show the most explanatory factors, and statistically equal runoff values between the rehabilitation periods.

Mutational analysis of apoptotic genes in familial aggregation of hematological malignancies.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors performed a mutational analysis by sequencing the entire coding regions in four key apoptotic genes FAS, FASLG, CASP8 and CASP10 in 92 independent families belonging to French and Tunisian populations and diagnosed with several forms of familial hematological malignancies.

Organization of planar rafts, caveolae and steroid receptors on spermatozoa during development

TL;DR: It appears that PR, ERα and ERβ were sequestered in the caveolar rafts of spermatozoa during epididymal maturation, and the exit of CAV1 from the membrane rafts overlying the acrosome during capacitation might free them from the sequestration that might trigger PR into action.

Lachancea thermotolerans acts as a resistance inducer in soybean infected with Meloidogyne incognita

TL;DR: This study assessed the efficiency of Lachancea thermotolerans CCMA 0763 and its metabolites in controlling Meloidogyne incognita in soybean and their effects on plant defense enzymes and glyceollin synthesis, showing potential as a biopesticide.

Global cancer statistics

TL;DR: A substantial proportion of the worldwide burden of cancer could be prevented through the application of existing cancer control knowledge and by implementing programs for tobacco control, vaccination, and early detection and treatment, as well as public health campaigns promoting physical activity and a healthier dietary intake.

Conserved seed pairing, often flanked by adenosines, indicates that thousands of human genes are microRNA targets

TL;DR: In a four-genome analysis of 3' UTRs, approximately 13,000 regulatory relationships were detected above the estimate of false-positive predictions, thereby implicating as miRNA targets more than 5300 human genes, which represented 30% of the gene set.

Comprehensive molecular portraits of human breast tumours

Daniel C. Koboldt, +355 more
- 04 Oct 2012 -
TL;DR: The ability to integrate information across platforms provided key insights into previously defined gene expression subtypes and demonstrated the existence of four main breast cancer classes when combining data from five platforms, each of which shows significant molecular heterogeneity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Most mammalian mRNAs are conserved targets of microRNAs

TL;DR: This work overhauled its tool for finding preferential conservation of sequence motifs and applied it to the analysis of human 3'UTRs, increasing by nearly threefold the detected number of preferentially conserved miRNA target sites.
