TLDR
Five miRNA binding site SNPs associated significantly with breast cancer risk are located in the 3′ UTR of CASP8, HDDC3, DROSHA, MUSTN1, and MYCL1, respectively, which belongs to miRNA machinery genes and has a central role in initial miRNA processing.

Identification of co-infection by rotavirus and parvovirus in dogs with gastroenteritis in Mexico.

TL;DR: Fifty samples from dogs with gastroenteritis were analyzed and parvovirus and rotavirus were identified, respectively; 7% of dogs were infected with rotvirus exclusively, while 14% were co-infected with both rotav virus and parVovirus; clinical signs in co- infected dogs were more severe.

Effect of anti-fungal compound phytosphingosine in wheat root exudates on the rhizosphere soil microbial community of watermelon

TL;DR: Phytosphingosine inhibited the FON directly, regulated the microbial community structure in watermelon rhizosphere and formed an environment not conducive to pathogen invasion, eventually alleviating the incidence of watermelon Fusarium wilt in wheat/watermelon companion cropping system.

Biodiverse urban forests, happy people: Experimental evidence linking perceived biodiversity, restoration, and emotional wellbeing

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated whether perceived biodiversity is linked to emotional wellbeing, taking into account the individual level of connection to nature, and whether such relationship is mediated by perceived restorativeness.

Herbal nutraceuticals: safe and potent therapeutics to battle tumor hypoxia.

TL;DR: The present review strongly suggests that herbal nutraceuticals are highly effective in combating the oncogenic effects of the HIF-1 pathway in wide varieties of tumors.

Global cancer statistics

TL;DR: A substantial proportion of the worldwide burden of cancer could be prevented through the application of existing cancer control knowledge and by implementing programs for tobacco control, vaccination, and early detection and treatment, as well as public health campaigns promoting physical activity and a healthier dietary intake.

Conserved seed pairing, often flanked by adenosines, indicates that thousands of human genes are microRNA targets

TL;DR: In a four-genome analysis of 3' UTRs, approximately 13,000 regulatory relationships were detected above the estimate of false-positive predictions, thereby implicating as miRNA targets more than 5300 human genes, which represented 30% of the gene set.

Comprehensive molecular portraits of human breast tumours

Daniel C. Koboldt, +355 more
- 04 Oct 2012 -
TL;DR: The ability to integrate information across platforms provided key insights into previously defined gene expression subtypes and demonstrated the existence of four main breast cancer classes when combining data from five platforms, each of which shows significant molecular heterogeneity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Most mammalian mRNAs are conserved targets of microRNAs

TL;DR: This work overhauled its tool for finding preferential conservation of sequence motifs and applied it to the analysis of human 3'UTRs, increasing by nearly threefold the detected number of preferentially conserved miRNA target sites.
